So then - details! Battered! Started timing contractions at 11.30pm friday, went in at 9.30am saturday. Examined me, 4cm, said would monitor and decide stay/go later. Very Long latent phase with very strong contractions but no real progress until waters popped at 4cm, LOADS of meconium' panic stations, rushed to labour ward where rhey scanned to make sure still head down as meconium so thick (he was still head down). They then told me theyd consider drip if i didn't progress as he might be distressed - monitored him for 30 mins 6.30 - 7pm, during which time I went from 4 - 10cm, intense pressure in my bum like I was going to die, then all of a sudden he crowned and caught us all by surprise! Didn't cry for 5 mins so the doctors had to work on him a bit but I KNEW he was okay, just sensed it. Obs for 12 hours all spot on, born at 8pm home for 3pm next day. After pains are a bitch, feel like I've been kicked up the arse, no stitches or tears but two big grazes from the speed of it all.

Harry Michael Roberts. 8lb 2oz
