Hey there! :hi:

I just started using OPK's to get an idea of when I might ovulate.

My first question: Do you test 1x/day or multiple x/day? My OPKs say test 1x/day between 10am - 8pm. I have noticed, however, some ladies on here have been doing more than 1x/day. What are the advantages to this, what times would you do your tests each day and why?

My second question: I noticed other ladies comparing multiple days of OPKs to check for progression/darkening of lines as time goes on. I was under the impression that OPKs are like HPTs in that they should not be considered "valid" outside the time limit (after 10min). Is this true? If not, should I save and date my OPKs to look for progression?

Thank you so much!!

I know most woman will start off testing only 1x day but as soon as the line starts to get darker then will test 2 or even 3 times a day just to make sure they don't miss it...I always date and take pics of my opk's from the beginning to the end..But i never take the pics 10mins after just incase its invalid..maybe it would be a good idea for you!! Goodluck!!

hiya x

ive been using opks like yourself to sort my dates out, ive sometimes took 2 aday as they say not to use first morning wee however i have done this and then tested a lil later in afternoon and found the line is clearer, they say to test at the same time everday as what you drink thru day can weaken ur urine so i do mine around 11am/1pm x

if you look at mine i started testing on 18th i got negs till 21st but remember the test line has to be as dark or darker than the control line,

Also yes i have kept mine to put pic on here for ladies to see if u read ur instructions it wil say a poss line will not dissapear only fade slighlty.... and on my pics which i uploaded oh here they were done in the time limit and even the next day wen i added more the line on the day b4 was still visiable u can see my positives from the negs so for def a pos line doesnt fade x

i have a memory box and i have a preg test in my memory box from feb 09 and its still got a positive line on it ive kept it coz i lost my baby but the line is still their clear as owt x so i def say pos lines dont dissapear x

hope this helps a lil x good luck xx:hugs:

I used them as part of a natural-cycle FET, and the doctor said once a day, but twice a day makes you less likely to miss it. It can get costly though.

Thanks for your advice everybody! I will stay with once per day for now.

I wouldnt stretch to using more than 1 a day, just use them up quicker, spending my more, way i seen it.
i tested between 2pm-4pm, i was told that was the best time, as my cycle days went on, could see it getting darker, as ive been told you roughly ovulated on cycle day 14, bang on cycle day 14 i had the line as dark as the control line ( ive been told to that if your positive line is dark just on 1 side could be classed as a positive ) i was using ovulation sticks for 3 months, got pregnant :D

Test 2 times a day and although you shouldn't read the test after the time limit (it needs to be positive within the time) but when they dry the do stay the same shade for a few days to help you track. x
