Hi everyone,

I knew the worry would creep up on me, Ive kind of been burying it in the back of my head and trying not stay positive but I knew it wouldn't last for long.

I know the statistic of miscarrying after seeing a heartbeat is something like 5% but I just wondered how many people on here had miscarried after seeing a heartbeat?

I had a mmc at 12 - 13 weeks at the end of December, but had no scan to know when it happened etc. but my womb measured 13 weeks as the dr scanned me that day.

I will be almost 7 weeks and although I will be relieved to see a heartbeat, I know almost straightaway I will be worrying that it will still go wrong, and I suppose I will also worry because I guess Ill feel a bit more attached after seeing the blob lol on the scan ..............
Thankfully I have paid for a scan to be done at 9 weeks so wont have too long to wait until Im hopefully reassured again. Id love to have a scanning machine at home lol!
I suppose Im thinking that at 7 weeks the bubs will still be a blob and over the next few weeks it would be developing massively so there would be lots of potential for things to go wrong and for a mc to happen.

Sorry for rambling - its all kind of crept on me today as the scan is tomorrow!

Hi Chocolate, I totally understand how you are feeling. I am 5w 3days pregnant. And had a MMC at 7 weeks in December. I saw the hb at just under 7 weeks with the mmc and all was ok and returned 10 days later and the baby had died days after the scan.

Now i plan to have a private scan at 8/9 weeks as having seen the hb so eaarly last time and the mmc happening afterwards i would feel better if i see it is all ok later this time.

Good luck at your scan

X

Hi Sue, thanks for the reply - I suppose I will be relieved to see the pregnancy has progressed to a heartbeat but I wont actually relax until the baby is in my arms!
I too have booked a scan for 9 weeks as I think I actually lost at 8 weeks.

I wish I could just enjoy this pregnancy like I did with DS but the innocence has gone!

Hi Chocolate,

Really hope the scan goes well for you. The odds are good if there is a strong heartbeat, though sadly some ladies on here have had losses at a later stage, it is hard not to worry, but regular scans help.

The ladies on the pregnancy after loss thread are really helpful and supportive for stuff like this, has been a life-saver for me in the first tri (I had scans at 6+, 8 and 10 weeks, then the "normal" 12 week scan, now joining second tri, hurray!)

Best wishes.

Do let us know how you get on with your scan.

I had scans at 6 weeks and 8+4 and saw heartbeat on both - but they reckon baby died day of or day after the last scan - the sonographer did say at the time - that although it was fine then there was no guarantee that it would be ok that evening or the next day (making it sound like the 5% was a bit optimistic)

I've been offered a re-assurance scan at 8 weeks next time I'm pregnant (if/when!) but I'm not sure how much re-assurance it will give me!

lightweight, I know the sonographers cant give false hope but thats a bit deflating being told that!!

The scan went well, measuring spot on and saw a heartbeat and she just said at this stage the pregnancy is viable - but I know there is a lot of developing to do yet so also am aware it may not go to plan again.
We had to DS today and it was a bit of a nightmare so not sure about travelling the 40 mins again for a 9 week scan when I have one booked for 11 weeks - hmm, will see how confident I feel a bit nearer the time. Such a shame the scanning place is over the other side of town!

Thanks for all the replies
