I have very bad dandruff and I've tried everything. I've even tried men's shampoo.. And now that its getting cold out and the heat is on it has gotten worse... And because i'm scratching i'm getting a lot of scabs.. Any suggestions on what i can do?????

I don't know but i have this problem too so watching for answers

:hugs:

I had it when going through puberty and i had a perscription bottle of shampoo to use that worked really well. If it is above and beyond a normal dry scalp id see the gp. Goodluck x

When I was little I had eczema on my scalp and it gave me bad dandruff, my mum used Polytar shampoo on me and it worked really well :)

i have this too. only since my hair started growing back after loosing it after i had my little one. it drives me mad, sooo itchy, dry, scabby & starts weeping when i scratch :(
doctor has prescribed me shampoo & a scalp lotion. seems to work when im using it but cant miss a few days as it goes back the same way!

Aw I wish I had an answer, but I don't.

Hope you get something soon. Have you spoken to your GP?

Thanks Guys!! I will go see my doctor and try some stuff out.. If anything works ill post on here..

I've had this (still get it on and off), the only thing that clears it up for me is TGel therapeutic shampoo, probably what your GP would tell you to get anyway. https://groceries.asda.com/asda-estore/search/searchcontainer.jsp?trailSize=1&searchString=t+gel&domainName=Products&headerVersion=v1&_requestid=433716

Hi hon
I saw this post a the time you put it on, but I didnt post a reply. I've also had this - I struggled for about 4 months on and off with it and tried every shampoo under the sun.
I went to my GP on Friday (cant believe i didnt do it sooner) and it was scalp ezcma. She gave me a steroid cream and I'm not exagerrating, it cleared it totally by Sunday. Unbelievable.
So if your struggling go to your GP.

xx

Have a read about SLS, it's sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate https://bloggingerika.hubpages.com/hub/Is-SLS-Bad-For-You. It's used as the foaming agent in things like toothpaste, shampoo, face washes etc its probably first on the list of ingredients after water on most your products, it's also used as a chemical floor cleaner and engine degreaser as it basically strips the top layer of things, it's listed as an irritant! Most people use SLS every day with no problems and lucky them that's fine, but if you have sensitive skin/scalp the process of stripping all the oils and aggravating the skin can make conditions like dandruff, acne, dermatitis worse especially as your skin will try to compensate for what it removes, ive recently switched to a SLS free shampoo, the one I chose i found on amazon if you search 'Argan oil SLS free' but theres plenty out there, it's all natural so it's not going to aggregate anything, I also use an SLS free face wash and my skin is so so much better as its not being upset by any products! Hth

I get flare ups of it too and get a shampoo from the docs called polytar which really helps. Maybe give your doc a call xxx

It could be the SLS in the shampoo's you are using is making it worse.

I've found the tar shampoos help about the best when it's bad. Have you gone to the doctor to make sure it's not some kind of fungal infection (or other) if it's bad enough you have scabs? I don't think scabs are normal at all for dandruff. They may need to give you a medicated anti-fungal or something.
