I feel awful, I have mastitis and Dr gave me antibiotics so hopefully will clear soon. I'm feeding lots from that side. Think it came about as lo had 6 teeth cut in 2 weeks and his latch mucked up. You can visible see the milk duct which is infected as a lump. Just wondering if anyone has any tips to help pain

Massage, massage, massage! I haven't had mastitis (I've come close with red stripes across my breast) but I get blocked ducts frequently! I find it easier to unblock them by massaging while pumping. Best of luck to you.

Keep feeding, despite the pain!

Apart from that, rest, recuperate, take pain relief and look after yourself. I had it when my son was 14 months and felt horrendous :hugs: xx

Massage and warm compressions and obviously pumping/feeding helps as well

I had it a couple of weeks ago, it's horrible. Try aiming the shower at the lump and massaging. Also you can take paracetomal to get any fever down.

I had it when DD2 was about 2 months old. No idea why! I was amazed how fast it came on. I went from perfectly fine to shivering in bed with a fever of 39.2C in an hour. I fed all that evening, rested, had paracetamol and fed overnight as usual. By the morning I was much better. It sounds like you had an infected fissure so probably did need the antibiotics, but for future reference, the guidelines are that it can often be cleared without antibiotics, and you should try with massage/paracetamol/warm showers and frequent feeding for 12-24 hours first. https://cks.nice.org.uk/mastitis-and-breast-abscess#!scenario

Get well soon! I couldn't believe how ill I got so quickly, but I also couldn't believe how fast I got better so hippie you'll be better soon.

Hope you feel better! I am going through the same thing. When you're in the shower, just let hot water (as hot as you can stand) run over the affected area!

Thanks so much for advice. I bf my daughter for 22 months and son now 9 months and never got it so was lucky really. Feeling a bit better now at least. Hope you feel better to hwngurl
