I am really struggling to loose weight. I have been using the slimming world meal plans for meal inspiration and trying to cut down on snacking but somehow I have gained weight?!

I am going to try cutting carbs but will need some alternatives. Bread should be easy to cut out but potatoes much harder.

My DH says it is dangerous to cut ALL carbs so what should I keep? Sweet potatoes? Wholegrain pasta?

Any meal ideas much appreciated!

Get some information on Slimming World Original Days. They are low in carbs (carbs are part of your Healthy Extra then syns).

All lean meat & fish are free foods along with certain veg and fruit but your rice, pasta etc are controlled.

PM me your email if you want and I can email over everything I have.

I do Slimming World but I do the Red (Original Days) and Green Days rather than Extra Easy.

Basic Principle:
Green Days:-
unlimited rice, pasta, pulses and all fruit and veg
Healthy Extras: Milk, cheese, fibre, meat (you get to chose 4 HEs rather than 2 on the EE plan)

Red Days:-
Unlimited lean meat & fish and certain fruit and veg
Healthy Extras: Milk, cheese, fibre and carbs.

You can do all Red days, all green days or mix them up.

I have been doing it for 3 days (4th today) and I have lost 1lb since yesterday (not sure of starting weight as didn't weigh myself. Was 4lb heavier before Xmas though)

Sweet potato, brown rice, quinoa are all good sources of carbs.
Don't forget, fruit and veg are carbs too :-)

The best way to look at it is by cutting out processed carbs so white potatoes and bread. I honestly don't think it helps weightless as once you start incorporating them again you'll gain weight. If you try and eat healthier you'll lose weight. So if you wanted mash have sweet potato mash then you'll be having one of your five a day too. If you want bread have lentils or pulses instead it's still gives that heavy feeling but with more nutritional value xx

There are a lot of successful diets that include carbs, in fact focus mainly on carbs. If like me you love carbs then maybe you should consider something like that. I am trying HCLF (high carb low fat vegan diet) but there's also Raw Til 4, 801010 and Starch Solution. I love carbs and could never cut them out lol. I have 1/2 watermelon & 1 mango smoothie for breakfast, 2 servings of white rice for lunch and either pasta or a big plate of roast potatoes or something like that for tea and lots of fruit for snacks.

Good luck with everything !
