Well basiclly, for those of you who didnt read my first post, i'm pregnant and i wasnt sure what to do at first but i've now decided (over alot of sleepless nights), that i want to keep this baby. Now my mum said to me when i told her that i'd have her full support no matter what. Well it seems that actually she didnt mean that at all, after telling her my desicion, she flipped out told me i was ruining my life, and that i cant rely on her support at all.
So i'm now kind of stuck
Im 300% sure i want this baby and no one is going to stop me, not even my mother!! Now i was wondering if anyone knows about the benefits i can claim? (im in the U.K)
-im not a college
-im not working
-my OH is working
-We need a house

Can we get any kind of benefits or even a council house?! I will be calling the council i just wanted to see if anyone has eben in this situtaion too?

Also, ive read about the 'Care and Learn' program, where your childcare is paid for whilst you learn. Has anyone done this or heard anyone that has?

Im really worried im not going to be able to bring this baby up properly and i dont want to be forced into abortion. From my parents and from me having lack of funds.

Any advice??

I dont know about benefits, someone posted a link the other day to a site that can help you work it out. Whatever your mum says now i'm sure she'll change her mind. Mine were dead set against me, my OH and the baby, but have come round to the idea now. Dont let anyone force you into an abortion, it needs to be your decision and done for the right reasons.

hope you're ok x

Yes you can get benefits (aslong as your mum isnt geting ANY money for you at all)

Yes you can get a council house once you put your name down on the list and explain your situation, they will then put you in a catergory accordin to priority.

I am currently fillin forms in for Care 2 Learn, they pay up to £160 a week including travel fares etc. i THINK you will be able to claim this aslon as your going to carry on in education etc.

Don't worry you will be a great mum with or without the help of your mum (who am sorry to say but sounds like a cow for tellin you she would be there for you no matter what you decided then done this to you but i guess everyone reacts differently to there child tellin them there goin to have a baby at our age)

if you need to ask any more questions, send me a pm xx

Hey hun, try www.entitledto.com

It doesn't have any details about the care and learn system, I am not familar with it either although this should help you with the housing situation.
Good luck xxx

Hey hun

Firstly, you can get jobseekers allowance. call the jobcentre on 08000556688 and tell them your circumstances.

Secondly, about housing.. You will be able to get one, but more than likely not before you are 24 weeks gone when you get your MAT B1. DON'T move out of your parents house before then if you really don't have to, as they will say you willfully made yourself homeless and refuse to help you. If you have to go, get your Mum/Dad to write you a letter giving you 2 weeks notice to vacate their property, let them sign/date it, walk into the council and tell them you will be homeless from the X'th of whatever month. However, you being pregnant will have nothing to do with this, as until you have your MAT B1 (I got mine today, I'm 25 weeks) you can't legally prove you are pregnant, no matter how pregnant you look, or if you have maternity notes etc etc.

About the care and learn program.. I have no idea about that, sorry. Wish I could help more :(

And anyway - You will be a fantastic Mum. You came on here, and you asked for support. You have your head screwed on the right way. Well done :)

Tell your OH to give up work, walk into the housing place in your scruffiest clothes, smoke a bit of weed and act like you have no intentions of EVER working. Then they will give you a house!!!!

But on a serious note, when my OH and tried to get a house, we got no where, I was working, he was in and out of work at that point. Because we were a couple we got less points. And we were practically homeless, we were living in a single room at his grandparents.

I recieved a letter the other day to ask whic hous eI wanted, I applied nearly 3 years ago!!!!
