Since having 2 babies 12 months apart in age I am struggling to regain my figure. My daughter is 10 weeks now and is breastfed but the weight isn't coming off. I thought bf was supposed to burn 500 calories a day? Well it's not for me! I don't eat anymore than 2000 calories a day and I know this because I have been tracking my calories on my phone app but I've lost nothing. Because I'm bf I can't really go below 2000 apparently... And I'm depressed been this big and still I'm my maternity clothes! Only reason I can think if is I'm not as active as I used to be. Bf takes up a lot of sitting down time as does the holding baby all night so she sleeps where as before I would be flying around getting stuff do done and pretty much always on the go..

I've heard a lot of women say they didn't lose while breastfeeding either. It's a common complaint on the website I use to track my calories. Where did you get the 2000 number from? It's also very easy to eat more than you think, especially if you aren't weighing and measuring everything. (I had a huge shock when I finally bought a cheap food scale and weighed a handful of M&Ms)

Can you go for a daily walk maybe? That'll help burn off some more calories, and it's good for you. Good luck! :flower:

Hi, yes I go out everyday and power chalk with the double buggy up hill! I always have a sweat on. I got the 2000 number from been told to eat as i would in the third trimester while pregnant. I'm tracking everything I am eating and it's either close to 2000 or under if anything! Must be a hormone thing??

Could be! Maybe your body wants to keep it to help with production? I also recommend taking measurements, you might see some change in your waist/etc without the scale moving. :)

Thank you, my hubby has one of those measurement things ( he's a gym frantic)I might have a go on it tonight.

It might be because BF isn't burning as many calories as you think. Your LO might not be eating much at only 10 weeks, even if it seems like it. 500 calories a day from BF s often stated as a maximum amount. For example, if BF is only burning about 200 calories a day, and you're eating 2000 and not moving much, then you're probably not at a deficit, if that makes sense? Most women with sedentary lifestyles only burn about 1700 calories a day doing not much (I know having a baby is very busy, I just mean not moving around much!). Also, even if BF does burn 500 calories a day, and you're burning 1700 by just being, then it's only a deficit of 200 if you're eating 2000 calories, which works out at less than a pound every 2 weeks, so it's very possible you wouldn't notice the difference.

If you can manage it perhaps try a little bit of exercise to make the calorie deficit higher?
