So I've been breastfeeding my 3 day old until now, we haven't been getting on with breastfeeding leaving us both distressed so I've switched to formula. I noticed at each feeding he onlyy takes 5-20 mls, Is this normal? It just seems so little! I'm feeding him between every 2-4 hours depending when he's hungry and awake, but its normally about every 3 hours.

5ml seems a bit little, but 20ml at 3 days sounds ok. Over the next few days he will most likely up his intake to 60-90ml per feed. Babies sleep alot in the first few days, but as long as he is having 5-6 wet nappies and 1-2 soiled nappies a day he should be getting what he needs. xxx

Their stomachs are tiny at the start but begin to stretch so eventually they will take more. Don't worry I'm sure he will let you know if he's hungry!

My LO had hardly anything the first week or so either, so I wouldn't worry too much.. If he's hungry he'll soon let you know! Their stomachs are tiny, and stretch a little everyday so shortly he should be taking more :)
