Breastfeeding is just getting worse and worse for me lately! The nipple pain was almost gone, and now it's worse than ever. Both nipples sting and ache so badly when she latches on. I started using my nipple cream again which has helped slightly.

Also, every now and then when LO eats she'll start whining and moving her head around and sort of 'hitting' me, scratching me, and pulling at my skin with her fists. All this while still latched so my poor nipple gets tugged and pulled and since it already hurts, all that is just agony! If I take the nipple out then she'll start crying until I put it back in and she'll be fine for a few minutes until she starts fussing again and we repeat the cycle.

I'm not planning on giving up, but I'm just so frustrated. Just when I thought things were getting easier I feel like I'm losing my mind again.

my daughter does exactly the same and has done since she was born its so frustrating :( i hear its meant to get better around 6 weekss x

Babe, Believe me when i say its gets harder before it gets easier :hugs:

I reached this stage when she was about 3 weeks, I actually got her in her pram and walked to tesco for formula etc, Fortunatly, something stopped me, I forget what and believe it or not The next few days were a breeze.

Can i ask, What is your milk flow like?, Is it very strong? Or very weak?, After a while i started to notice LO would fuss because i had too much foremilk and she didnt want it.

A few hints if you arnt already,
1.Sit topless....It allows the nipples to breath
2. Use bamboo velour brestpads, Brilliant things (look for "poshpadz" on etsy.com) when you do have to wear a bra.
3. Wash the nipple and dry with paper towels, It will avoid any infections /rubbing...Then put your lanolin cream on.
4. Make sure baby is latching on correctly
5. Dont loose faith! You seem to be pretty stong minded about the whole thing so i dont think you will have any worries about this step :hugs:

x

Thanks ladies.

The flow on my right is a lot faster and there is more milk in my right boob than my left, but she fusses at both breasts. Should I pump a little of the foremilk out before I feed her? She normally only eats from one side per feeding, so I figure she has to be getting some hind milk as well?

I feel so bad because I know she can't help it, but it frustrates me so badly when she does this that I just want to cry and switch to formula. I never would, but the urge is strong. Lol.

If she's only feeding from one side, I wouldn't express any off before a feed. I don't think one side feeding is a problem - my LO did it until 6 months (now he wants both and the first again! Hungry much?!)

The early weeks are so difficult! I want more children, but the memory of those first weeks puts me right off! It does get better though :) try wrapping LO in a blanket if she's thrashing around. Or at least cover her hands so it doesn't take chunks of skin out! If she pops off, give her a really good winding before re-latching, as wind will only make the squirming worse.

Hang in there- you're almost over the worst :hugs:

corey does that when hes over tired. so i take him off and rock him to sleep or just put him down.

even tho my nipples have got tougher i havent stopped using my cream so keep using it after every feed.

hope it starts to get better again soon x
