I wanted to post this because when I said I thought I tore a stitch no one believed me. Even my doc office was skeptical and said I was "probably fine but come in so we can see."

I'm a firm believer that if I had a hard time learning more, I should help others be educated.

Here's what happened;

I had an average delivery- I pushed about 55min and was actually told to stop pushing because she was crowning and the doc hadn't arrived. (My doc was on vaca so it was her back up.)
I tore during pushing and was stitched back up - I have no idea how many stitches or how bad a tear. I don't think the tear was worse than 2nd degree.

A few days ago I decided to have a look down there to see what was going on. I have been in pain but I figured it was normal. I got a mirror and took a peek... And was shocked to see that it looked like there was a gaping hole in the middle of my tear. It appeared that at least a few stitches tore open/apart. It was incredibly red in that spot and super painful.

I had my hubby take a look to see if I was crazy and he agreed that it looked like some of the stitches in the middle of my tear were gone or torn through the skin, leaving a hope where there shouldn't be one.

Called me doc, and the nurse said I was probably fine, stuff looks wierd down there, but come on in and we will take a look.

I went in today and the nurse practitioner and my ob examined me. They confirmed that the stitches are ripped open. There is nothing they can do now... They put me on antibiotics and said once it heals if it doesn't heal right, they will go in and fix it. :(

I think I've torn some of mine too...I have a gaping very pink bit, which hurts if I've walked too much and when I pee. Either I've torn them, or they decided not to stitch that bit, but due to being able to see some 'loose thread' I reckon I tore them! My midwife also said they won't restitch and it should heal, or at least reduce in size in 2 weeks. That was nearly a week ago, and the burning when peeing has lessened but the raw area still looks the same size to me.
