I wish I would stop bleeding

Hi, I'm in hospital and have been for last 6 days and here until Monday at the earliest. I'm bleeding and the staff are concerned about early labour. Also doesn't help I have the cone thing done about a yr ago after a weird smear test so think staff are concerned. Wish they could tell me exactly what happening but unfortunately it's a waiting game. Hospitals are good but a new born baby ward is exceptionally hard and no spare beds on other wards. Has anyone else had this problem? And what was the outcome? Thank you xxxx

How far along are you?

I'm assuming you had a cone biopsy? If so light bleeding can sometimes orrur if the cells haven't had enough time to heal and are therefore more sensitive during pregnancy, that isn't so much a concern for early labour though.

An incompetant cervix wouldn't normally occur with one cone biopsy either, it would have had to be a lot of cervix removed or starting with a short cervix anyway.

They should be able to tell from a scan, followed by an internal/vaginal scan if the bleeding is coming from the cervix or the womb but sometimes these things have no explanation

I was also spotting at week 30 and went to the hospital. Ultrasound funneling with 1 cm left. I had a leep surgery done a year and a half ago and they never told me if that was the cause of funneling (maybe i was on my feet for too long and overly tired too), but anyhow i stayed in the hospital for 3 days and the spotting slowed down. Also had 2 steriod injections just in case baby came early. They told me I had 50% chance of deliverying in the next few days and that really freaked me out. Went on bed rest and made it to 37 weeks now. Funneling closed after two weeks of bedrest. Hindsight is 20/20 and my OB think the hospital i went to made an over call (my OB was on vacation at that time), and i really regret now getting those sterioid shots coz i have no idea what the impact those shots have on my baby.

So, just want to say stay off your feet, bedrest, bedrest, bedrest and pray lots!! i know everybody's situation is different but things somethings turn out in a different way. God bless, you will be in my prayers.

I'm just over 28 weeks. Went to visit my mum overnight and now I'm 220 miles from home in my mothers clothes pjs! I have had 4 steroid injections and anti bios 4 times a day - been checked at by the consultant has checked me out and still have clots so waiting to get transferred to leeds as they can deliver small babies. This baby world never seems to be easy! Hopefully this baby will stop in me a bit longer so get a bit stronger. No. Doubt time will tell as I'm bleeding lots and lots of tight pain too so that's why I have to be moved to Leeds as they can deal with premature babies. Fingers crossed xxxx

Hi love. IC caused by cone biopsy is unlikely to be the cause of your problems now that you have reached 28wks. If your cervix was weak, then it would have "failed" before now. At this stage baby is too large to "slip" thru a slightly dilated cervix that is incompetent anyway- (an incompetent cervix tends to dilate to 3cms max). If you are not experiencing contractions, then it is possible to keep going hun.

Have the docs explained why they are concerned and why bubs might be putting in an early appearance? Sit tight, rest and get back to me - I can advise on possible questions to ask your docs if you'd like me to? xxx

Hi thank you for your reply. I have been told now I can only leave hospital if my bleeding stops for 48 hours. Now I am in a ward that if I was to deliver that they have all the equipment / cots and there is no delays trying to find a bed. So it's a waiting game I guess. Had more bloods done and they checked all waters etc and think there is enough around so it's just when this blood stops coming out the dr don't know why it's happening so hopefully it will stop so I can go home and not be here. If I have to go into labour they seem happy with that so I think I can de-stress a bit! I hope it stays in for few more weeks! Thank u xxxx

I have had a scan today as I am still bleeding and been in hospital 10 days and they say that I have I low lying placenta over my os that is the reason for the bleed. I am glad that they have found this out however at my 20 week scan this was never mentioned, also when I went to a&e with blood gushing out of me this was never brought up and unknown reason why I was bleeding. Also all the stress of steroids, anti bios, ops etc. I'm annoyed that no one told me about this. I am waiting for the dr to chat to me it's just annoyed me it's taken so long to find out the reasonings considering how many scans I have had (4 but surely that's a lot) and stress of bring transferred hospital to hospital to ensure that there is cots available. I am greatful but just annoyed at the moment .......
