IBS

Just discovered I've got it after having the worst pain I have ever felt in my life, was crippled and couldn't speak from the pain, my mum also has it and she said it was worse than childbirth. But, has anyone got IBS and know how to cope with it or what foods to avoid?

My doctor told me that IBS is technically not a real diagnosis - but a name for these symptoms when it cannot be diagnosed otherwise. I went through 7 years of "IBS" and no doctor would diagnose it as such because of the statement above and I went to many specialists and had scopes and colonoscopy's and nothing absolutely nothing was found or cured. I refused to take the meds for "IBS" because it is not treatment but only pain management and that is it.

I ended up seeing a naturalpath who diagnosed it as leaky gut syndrome - put me on 3 different powders - one special digestive enzymes, one a stomach lining builder, and a body detox - and I was cured within 3 DAYS............I still had to continue taking the powders for a while longer.

I personally recommend trying to find a good naturalpath, but honestly do what feels right for you.

If you are sure that's what you have, then there are lots of books out there that can help you with food choices. If you haven't been diagnosed by a doctor, then I suggest you get to one. There are other, much more serious, problems that can present the same way as IBS and if you follow an IBS friendly diet, you can do much more harm if you have something such as crohns disease or ulcerative colitis.
