If you have a real tree, do you cut it down yourself?

Just curious. Last year, we went to a market that had pre cut trees. It was a nice tree, but seemed to drop the needles and die very quickly.
This year we went to a farm to cut down our own, which very really fun! And COLLDDDDDD!
If you have a real tree, where do you get it?

just curious when u got the tree home .. you did cut the dead stump off the end ? and put a hole in the bottom yeah ? loads of people don't do this and then tell me that there tree died quick .. .. obviously u cut it down ureself this year so it wouldn't have a sealed base from sitting around :) anyways ...

i just go and get mine from one of the castles near by they sell them off the estates.. its quite nice there all ready cut down :) x

EDIT: noticed we both started with "just curious" thought it was funny :P x

We have a 'tree farm', you go the field and pick the one you like and then they cut it for you, or you can choose out of the pre-cut ones if you prefer those. :)

Yeah we cut the bottom off. I think it had just been there for a while so it was old

and my husband cuts down the tree! And it's not that bad. The trunk is only a few inches across

yes we cut ours down fresh. It's all part of the experience I think.
If your tree has been cut for more than 30 mins, when you get home, you need to cut at least another 10 cm off the end then straight into water.
What does everyone else use in the tree water? We are just using water atm, but have heard such things as putting asprin, bleach and sugar in with the water.
