So, I've been away from B&B for a good while now, but I'm back!
My pregnancy went well and I found out on August 16, 2011 that I was having a boy. My partner and I decided after the good news to get the knot tied! Our homeless situation has been straightened out and we now have our own apartment in Colorado Springs.
My son decided to show up a week early on December 27, 2011. I was having 5-1-1 contractions for a good two hours and had my mother-in-law take me to the hospital to get checked out. I was only 1.5 cm dilated though, so they sent me home and told me to come back when I was having the contractions closer together. So, I went and hung out with my mother-in-law (more liked suffered on her couch). When we felt they were closer and stronger we went back. I was still only 1.5 cm dilated! "Good news," said the nurse, "You're bag of waters is bulging." They sent me home again and this time I went back to my apartment with my hubby. I tried a bath, laying down, sitting up, crouching...nothing helped. Then, as I was crouched over the couch with my head laying on the cushion my water broke! Went back to the hospital and gritted my teeth till I couldn't take the pain. I ended up getting an epidural (I was going for a natural birth, but that wasn't going to happen). Once I received it I slept one hour, dilated to 4 cm, slept another hour, dilated to 7 cm, and then I slept all the way till I felt like I had to use the bathroom really bad. After an hour of pushing (a relief on the pressure) my son crowned and was out within ten minutes. He was blue and I was actually a little frightened of him. We quickly warmed up to each other though. So, Gabriel Austin McGuire born December 27, 2011 at 7:02 am weighing 7 lbs and measuring 20 in. He turned a month old yesterday and I love him!
