Hi girls,

Haven't been on in a few weeks as ttc was all getting a bit much. However I finally got my first app. with the gynie for 13th Nov!! After waiting all those months, I was able to book my first app for less than 2 weeks away - strange system.

Anywho, I just wanted to check - I was referred to a fertility centre but my app. is for a gynacologist. Is this right?? Im sure there are alots if tests to be done first, just making sure this is how it goes??

Thanks ladies x

Yeah that sounds right a FS is actually a gynae i think. I go to the gynae area, so pleased things r moving on for u. XXX

Hmmm I don't want to be negative but that's what happened with me. I complained to my GP that I was having sharp period-like pains in between my periods and that they were very far apart coming every 2 months or so and the fact that I was having problems conceiving ..trying for two years. He said probably all connected. He sent me for blood tests and an US scan. They came back and he said the bloods were normal and that I may have some small cysts on my ovaries which can delay periods but nothing to worry about. Then he referred me to gynae. I was really happy to have gotten my appointment and that I was relieved that finally I was getting somewhere.

First appointment with gynae he acknolwdeged that I was having problems conceiving and that he had to do some tests. He asked for bloods again and USS. I was abit annoyed saying that my GP had already done it...he said he had to do them himself before he could move on and that he didn't have GP notes.

My follow up appointment was 2 months later! In between that I had my blood test and USS done. On my follow up there was another dr not the consultant. She said that blood test was fine and they had lost the USS! I had to take two separate days off work for the tests and then this follow up appointment as well to be told by the dr that I didn't have a gynae problem but that I had to be referred to the infertility clinic. I was so p****d off that I had waited this long to be told exactly what my GP had already found out.

So now I'm waiting for my appointment to the infertility clinic and if they ask to do the same blood tests I will not be pleased!

Hopefully I'll get on better than u, u seem to be going round in circles! I know I've been referred to the regional fertility centre, was just surprised to get the app for gynie rather than F.S. I'm not too worried anyway, Im just glad i get to see somebody who might know what's happening!

Don't worry Mrs R. When I got my appointment through for the RFC it said GYNAE 1 on the letter too. I phoned up and queried it, and they said that the appointment was for the RFC, it's just the way it comes out on the letter. Brilliant news on your appointment. The first one is always through quite quickly, it's the follow up appointments that take ages. I guess the NHS guidelines stipulate waiting lists no longer than 3 months, so they see you for your first appointment within that time frame and then you seem to wait ages afterwards.

Good luck for 13th November.

xx
