At the grand old age of 21... god i feel old! :haha:

Does anyone no what i have to do when i get there? Do i just say what my wishes are and she writes them down? Simple as that??

i made my will about a year ago at 24 when i separated from my hubby.

my solicitor just asked me who i wanted to excecute the will (my parents or failing them being alive them my bro and sil), who i wanted to leave my money too (not that i have any but maybe one day i will lol) and how i wanted it divided and then is my kids are under 18 who i wanted to look after my kids.

they called me when it was all drawn up and i went in signed it and that was that - easy peasy lol

Ahhh thats good! Well the money part will be easy... seeing as i have none! lol But its mainly to say that i want my parents to have my LO if anything should happen to me *touches wood!*

When you say execute a will, what do you mean??? lol

xx

it means who you want to be responsible for making sure your wishes are carried out.

Whilst its a bit depressing to think about, I think you're being a very responsible person for doing it! Anything can happen at any time and its good to know that people wont be arguing over things.

More people should be that organised

How do you organise doing it? I need to get one done, but i cant afford a solicitor??

Well because we are on IS, and are single parents, and we have never made a will before we will get legal aid to pay it for us, so basically its free :) Otherwise i wouldnt have been able to afford it either!

You just have to phone around the solicitors in your area and see who does legal aid, arrange a appointment, and thats it :D

Yay!! As strange as it sounds im looking forward to it! At least when its done, its done! and no more worrying about it!

its not as straightforward with who has you child/ren if the worst is to happen with a will though. the fob has a legal right to be the main carer in that case though is he isnt on the scene/capable then its easier. it just basically says what your wishes are so should the fob or his family contest your wishes are clearly set out in a legally binding document iygwim.

your solicitor will explain all that though.

same here though he is on the bc coz we were married at the time the 2 boys were born but its my peace of mind too and the fact that evey member of my family have they he needs to get through them first to get to my boys!!

So what if i dont tell them FOB's name? Hes not seen me since i was 8 weeks preg and never met her, so he wouldnt have a leg to stand on if it came to taking my family to court for guardianship.. but do i still need to give his details? Hes not on the BC either,

you dont need to give any details for him at all hun. my ex is mentioned no where on my will.

its just that if he decided he wanted to have custody then he would probably have to have a dna test then there would be a child welfare hearing and he would probably only get visitation.
