I've just joined this forum and have posted my story in the introductions bit but also wanted to post here.
In January 2007 we lost our son, Ally, to stillbirth. We were told at a scan that he was gone and up until that moment we didn't know that anything was even wrong. We were told on Thursday and on Saturday I was admitted to hospital to give birth to our little boy. Although I was fit and healthy and had done everything I was told to do they still couldn't find a reason for his death. They told me that in most stillbirths this is the case, there just are no reasons or answers.
We conceived again in July 2007 and everything was fine. But at 20 weeks I was involved in a road accident which injured me and I gradually got worse until I was admitted to hospital at 22+4 weeks with bleeding. I got very sick and they discovered that my cervix was open and my placenta was infected. My waters broke and because of the infection they had to let me have the baby, otherwise we would both die within a few hours.
My daughter was born on my fourth day in hospital and lived for just a couple of hours. She was beautiful and perfect and she would have been here with me today as a happy, healthy three month old if not for the carelessness of the lorry driver who crashed into the back of our car.
I am a member of a lovely support forum, some of whom are also members here on this forum too. They have helped me to feel normal and less alone in what has happened to me, sadly more common than I ever believed possible. Some of them might recognise me from there and so, hello to them and to all the new people I hope to meet here.
I hope that I can be a support to anyone here who needs it and also receive support too.
