I'm finishing work next Friday (30th) but i'm not sure whether i have to claim income support or job seekers? Having never done either, i've no idea how it all works...

My Job is only a temporary thing through an agency, hence why i've got to claim benefits :(

Any help/advice? I really do not have a clue!

So your job finished because it was temporary? Not because you gave it up? How far along in pregnancy are you?

The direct gov website is useful to see what each benefit is about

Info on Jobseekers

Info on Income support

Hope it helps x

Thanks for the links.

My job is open until late November but they've said i can't work that late due to being pregnant so i've decided to leave 8 weeks early, as agreed with the agency. I'm just over 30 weeks now and already struggling!

You should be able to get income support then, you can claim it from 29 weeks x

yes if u apply for income support you will get your sure start maternity grant too, where as i dont think you get it if you are on job seekers. if your on job seekers you would have to go into there and sign on all the time, not the best when you start feeling like a elephant (like me) lol xx

If you qualify for Income Support then you're better off applying for that in my opinion because you don't need to sign on all the time and it'll mean you're entitled to other things whereas Job Seeker's doesn't. Plus, i'm not too sure if you can actually claim JSA at 30 wks.

you'll either claim income support or maternity allowance, not sure which.

check tht you cant get maternity allowance first :) if not thern income support :)
