I just seem to be having problem after problem with Olivers feeding. He was on C&G for a few weeks, he was sicky and had wind. I mentioned this to my HV who suggested maybe try comfort milk. After doing some research I decided to just try and swap his formula to aptamil cause I'd heard great things about it. First night I ended up with a very whingy, crying, hungry baby but decided it was a coincidence and the next day decided to try gripe water, for the following 24hrs he was pretty good, still sick but not as bad and I got a good night sleep. Well yesterday I ran out of cartons so started on the powder, now he's being whingy again, seems to be having tummy problems and cries as he strains, we had a very very very watery brown poo last night, he's also being sick loads more, even projectile all over the carpet an hour ago. It just upsets me! I don't expect a perfect baby with no sick or tummy problems at all but hearing him cry and trying to console him as he's straining away is upsetting. And it doesn't seem to matter how much I wind him, he's sick regardless. Although he isn't really sick after every single feed...

What on earth do I do?! Should I stick it out on aptamil powder? Cut my losses and just go back to C&G or should I try the C&G comfort formula? I have a full tub of C&G and a pretty full tub of aptamil in my cupboard. It kind of feels wrong to go out and buy ANOTHER tub of a different formula.

Any advice would be great. Becoming a very stressed out mummy :(

I don't know anything about formula but wondered if he might be sick. Has he got a fever at all? The winter vomiting bug is going round (norovirus) with symptoms of fever, aches, tummy cramps, vomiting and watery diarrhoea.

Just a thought.....really hope you come right soon. Xx

No temperature.

My mum bought round some comfort formula just in case i wanna try it. Hes due a feed soon so dunno whether to make up comfort or not.

I don't know about formula either I'm afraid as I bf but I agree with 2016 that it sounds like he could have an upset tummy and it may be nothing to do with the milk.

I would get him checked over if he is being sick and having diarrhoea. I hope he is better soon and that you find out what it is. x

You could give the comfort milk a go if that is what the hv suggested, seeing as your mum has brought you some round. I don't suppose it can do any harm.

Good luck. x

OMG I have the exact same problem... I started on aptamil powder and my LO was sick all of the time sore tummy hardly getting his wind up with his legs pulled right up and crying all of the time...
Spoke to doctor at 6wk check, suggested i try aptamil comfort and colief drops, he has been on this for 2 days now... sickness stopped also getting good burps with the colief but hes still crying... none stop from 11PM until 1AM but then sleeps until 7am also hes is great through the day...

Dont know if this reply will help you but im interested in reading any other replies... Good Luck to you xx

my lo had the same problem he was on SMA we changed to Aptamil and it takes a few days for their bellys to get use to the new milk, BUT I did go on the Aptamil comfort and it was great just give it time, but if he is arching his back it can also be colic he is suffering from

good luck

x

Ive now tried him on onw feed of c&g comfort. He was still a little bit sick about an hr after the feed and he still had tummy pain but he already seems more settled. Will just see how it goes. If comfort doesnt work within about ten days il go back to regular c&g. I just hate hearing him choke when hes sick and scream with tummy pains :(

just so you know comfort can take upto 2weeks for you to see a difference. Watch out for green explosive poo and stinky farts! (which does get better) We have been using it for almost 7 months. good luck x

I plan on trying it out properly unless he has major problems with it.

So does the stinky wind n green poo go or is it permanant? It feels like im harming him if those are the side effects... If an adult had it we would assume they were ill and felt unwell. Guess babies work differently.

I tried lo on 4 different formulas in the space of 3 weeks. I'm sure it's not as bad as they make out. Try it and see how it goes. Good luck Hun. It's horrid when you dont know what to do for the best xxx

It takes at least a week to see If the change will make a difference really. If your changing often this could cause it's own issues. Try one for a week or two and stick with it to see how baby likes it. If it's no good then change for another week or more.

I feel bad for only trying aptamil for only 3/4 days but I plan on using this one for a couple of weeks before changing if I need to. Hopefully it will work and I won't need to worry about changing again :flower:

We changed harrison to comfort because of constipation. To start with the poo is fairly frequent, quite runny, very smelly and green. Harrisons after about a month /2months it changed to 1 a day, slightly firmer - not solid, but not runny, smells still but i dont think its any worse than other baby poo - but that may be that im just used to it! And they are still green. It does say on the box that it can cause green poo - lovely stuff  lol x

We changed formula 4 times until we started using stay down/ anti reflux formula. It sounds like a mild reflux. There is no magical formula to solve this issue. It takes some time until their system is fully developed at around 6 months. Omar was suffering from reflux, but he didnt need any medication as his weight was not affected. What helped us to ease his pain wa:

- holding him upright for 30 mins after every feed
- switching to anti reflux formula
- using Dr. Browns bottles
- tilting his cot up
- feeding him upright on a pillow on our bed & with no noise or distractions
- Tummy & feet massage with warm olive oil after his bath & before his bedtime bottle
- Swaddling
- Tummy time to ease pain altough it was messy most of the time
- Avoiding laying him flat on his back. We either used a pillow or his bouncy chair.

Milk spits stopped at around 7-7.5 months.

Thank u. All this advice is great :) hes currently asleep in his moses thats propped up with old uni text books lol.
