In the middle of my first mc

I was 8 weeks pregnant when I started spotting last Friday evening. The spotting got heavier and changed from brown to bright red on the Saturday so I went to A&E where they took my blood and a urine sample. They didn't examine me but asked me lots of questions and based on my answers I was told that all was normal. On Monday things still hadn't changed so I spoke with my midwife who advised me to contact the EPU. They requested that I go in for a scan the following day (Tuesday of this week) and during the scan they confirmed I was 8 +4 and that although they could see my baby they couldn't see a heartbeat. My baby was measuring just over 6 weeks in age so it was probable that it had died 2 weeks ago. I have been told to go back next Tuesday for a futher scan just to be 100% that the baby has died. I carried on bleeding with hideous cramps and contraction type pains and last night I started to pass large clots. Not having been through this before, I thought that it was all over but today has been an absolute nightmare. I woke up this morning the middle of what can only be described as a murder scene. As I was walking to the toliet I could feel (sorry!) multiple clots leaving me and even more when I made it to the toilet. I have been passing large clots consistently from 7.30 this morning and felt my last one pass around 1.30 this afternoon. I am at this moment still passing clots but not big enough to feel (just visible on tissue).
What I really need to understand is how something so small could result in so many clots and such a loss of blood? I have read on numerous sights that a lot of women who lose babies at 6 weeks often don't know they have miscarried so why have I got so much to lose?
I am so scared to go to the toilet and my poor partner has had to hold my hand everytime I do go. Has anyone else experienced such extreme blood lose and clotting when m/c at such an early stage?
So sorry for such a long message - I desperatly need to off load and to understand.

Thanks in advance

Didn't want to just read and run, i am so sorry for your loss xxx

Hi hunny

Firstly, I am so sorry. If the bleeding is very heavy, contact your GP. I had 2 mmc at 6 weeks and passed a lot of clots both times and like you, couldn't believe how much there was.

It's such a horrible thing to have to go through and I am thinking of you. PM me if you need to chat.

Hey darlin'
I too am just going through my first miscarriage... I passed most of my clots on Monday - and it was a lot.
My bub was measured at 6 weeks also - and I should have been at 9 weeks 4 days. :(
I know its hard... And it hurts so much...
My heart is with you :hug::hug:
If you ever want to talk I'm here...

Be strong, although it's hard...
Take care of yourself, make sure you get lots of sleep and take some sort of multivitamin (I'm continuing to take my prenatal one)
Eat as good as you can... I know it's hard, I don't feel like eating at all, but you'll need your strength...

The less you do during this time - the better your recovery will be.
Be strong darling.. :( I know it hurts..

All my best

Thank you so much for your kind words. Im sorry that you are going through it too - it's unfair but thanks for being so kind in the middle of your own trauma xx

Today - so far so good as it seems that majority of clots have passed which is a relief. Stomach cramps have come back thick and fast though which is giving me more pain than I have had so far which seems strange, so still resting lots. I have to go back for another scan on Tuesday so fingers crossed that I have passed everthing naturally and that I dont have to have a D&C

Sending you lots of love and  and to everyone else thatis or has been through such an emotional and painful experience

I am so sorry you're going through this. I've had 3 mc at less than 6 weeks, two I bled heavily and lost lots of clots. It's a horrible, traumatic thing to go through, and I didn't even know I was pregnant with those before I mc. :HUGS:

Oh hun, that must have been really scary :-(
Sending you lots of love and hoping that things work out for you

:dust:

Message me if you need to. I'm certainly not an expert but have found it so comforting to have help and support on here.
Only found the site yesterday and it's quite strange that complete strangers were there for me during what I can only describe as being the worst day of my life :-(

Hope you feel better soon NickyNix - I had to have medical management for my 3rd mc last week and am still bleeding so know how you feel. It will get easier though hun and the pain will subside - do, as already suggested, rest as much as you can though as it is surprising how much this can take out of you. All the best hun xx
