Hi, i moved back in with my mum and brothers in february until i can find a new place for me and LO, anyway since then ive been claiming income support and had no issues with it. untill september when i got back with FOB and moved in with him, once i moved in i striaght away stopped income support and changed over tax credits. anyway 2 weeks later FOB decided it wasnt what he wanted leaving me no where to go but my mum allowed us to come back here. i got straight back in touch with income support to re-apply. my money finally started coming back through, until last week, i didnt get a penny, so i phoned up and the woman said theyd sent a form out for me, which to fill in which i never received. The forms arrived and i dont understand it. its a change of circumstances form
, but since i last claimed ive had no changed im back at my mums still with no money and no job and still have a LO to support. i wouldnt have minded filling out the form but for the fact it wants to know everyone i live with, their exacts jobs, their working hours and their incomes. will what my mum earns affect me getting income support?? i have to pay her every week to live here, i cannot afford to lose this money and theres no way my mum will support us financially, right now she wont even tell me her income to put on the form. if they come back and say my mum needs to support us she wont and it will leave us no choice but to go into a hostel. theres no way i can get a job yet as i dont get free childcare till january and have no one to watch maisie. ive just phoned to find out a form and the man was so rude, said if thats the info they want then i have to put it, end of

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. :( I'm in Canada, and I'll find out soon whether living with parents affects the child benefits here. I also live with my mom and brother. I would call back again and see if you can speak to someone else, sometimes that can make a difference. I hope you get it sorted out. xxx

That's very strange that they want to know everyone elses income, maybe it's changed since but I had to claim IS probably about 18 months ago now when living back at home with my dad and step mum and they never wanted to know their income, when you have dependants you're classed as independent from your parents, even if you live with them. If worst comes to the worst you won't have to go into a hostel, can you look into housing benefit, you would get all of it if not most of your rent paid. I moved out and got my own place, put in a claim for housing benefit on the Fri and by the Monday it was completely sorted. I had my deposit already but I think there are schemes to help you with that too, or some private land lords dont even need a deposit. I'd ring again and hopefully you can speak with someone else who can explain things a bit more clearly.
