I'm so frightened! Just got back from the hospital - I'm having scans on my cervix every two weeks. The first one was two weeks ago at 15 weeks where my cervix measured just over 4cm. This time, it's measuring just under 3 :/ I have another one booked for two weeks time and the consultant has told me that if it has shortened any more he will be booking me in for a cerclage, however that in itself holds a risk of triggering preterm labour. I don't know what to do :( has anyone been in the same situation and everything been ok?

I'm sorry that you are going through such a frightening time. I have no experience of this problem specifically but am waiting for an appointment with the fetal medicine specialist due to suspected complications so can certainly appreciate the feeling of uncertainty and worry.
I'm taking it one breath at a time xxx

Thankyou for replying :) I hope everything is ok with you! Do you have to wait long for your appointment? It's so scary when things don't go as planned!

Ask your doctor about progesterone suppositories. At 17 weeks I was measuring 2.4 cm, was normal length before then. Measurements were fine after that. My water broke at 31 weeks and I delivered at 34 weeks but I'm not sure it was related to my cervix.

Try to rest vertically as much as u can to prevent funnelling xx

Thanks for the replies everyone :) I've had pressure on and off over the last week, does this mean it's getting shorter? I'm so worried :/ I don't really get a chance to rest very often as I'm a single mum to an almost 3 year old :/

Hey Hun, I have an incompetent cervix my first son was born at 18+2. I didn't know anything was wrong with my cervix until I woke up one morning with my waters bulging. My second son I had a cerclage placed at 14 weeks and carried him to 31 weeks (his early arrival was unrelated to my cervix).

Did you have cervical trouble with your first Hun? Xx

I'm in similar situation. My cervix went from 3.8 last week to 2.1 today! I've been loosing bloody mucus discharge and that's what alarmed me to go get checked. I'm still in shock. On bedrest now and praying. This is really very stressful I'm only 26 weeks. No advice just know u are not alone xx

Sorry I took so long to reply!

I'm sorry you ladies are going through this scary time too :( and xmissxzoiex I'm so sorry about your previous loss :(

I'm currently sat in the hospital cafe waiting for my appointment (had to get a train two hours before my appointment in order to make it for the bus on time) and pretty nervous. I'm also really ill and been sick quite a bit this morning, I'm hoping it's just nerves tbh

It was running really late, but it's good news! (well, better than I was Preparing myself for anyway)

My cervix is shorter, but seems to be shortening at a slower rate now :) 2.4-2.7 depending on the measurement. The consultant decided cerclage is too risky at this point so I have cyclogest

Good at least it didn't get worse! Besides that's an ok measurement not that bad Hun longer than mine!
