The past few days i dont think Alex is getting enough in the evenings before bed.
He goes on to feed but pulls off after a few sucks like theres nothing there and does this for both sides.

How do i go about increasing my suply in the evenings?

Is he still having heavy nappies? Maybe he's just not hungry? I'm sure at the breastfeeding thing I went to before Elliot was born she said most milk is normally produced as your baby feeds.

Have you tried expressing once he's had a go? I think that'd build up your supply a bit but you won't express as much as he'd have if he'd fed so don't worry if you don't express much!

During the day they are heavy, i dont do the night ones (OH does) so im not sure over night.

The reason im thinking hes not getting enough, he used to cluster feed and get nicely full up that makes him sleepy and he would sleep through a goof 7/8 hours.

the past few days hes been doing the sucking them pulling off thing, hasnt been sleepy after feeding in the evening so when it comes to bedtime hes harder to put down. im thinking hes still hungry but there isnt anything there for him to have.

If you keep BFing at that time, and he's emptying both breasts, hopefully within a couple of days your body will adjust to his needs and start to make more milk - that's how it's supposed to work, anyway.

I've been having supply problems too. What seems to be working for me is Fenugreek (4 x 500mg three times daily). I actually read about it here on BnB - it's an herbal supplement that is said to increase the supply of breast milk within 72 hours. At six months I didn't know if it would help much as it's supposed to work best when you first start BFing, but it has been three days and I'm sure I'm noticing a difference. The only caution I have is that it will make both you and the baby smell of maple syrup - if you're not prepared, it can be a little weird!

You could try some pumping after and are you making sure you drink and eat plenty during the afternoon and early evening? I know that what you drink doesnt have a direct effect but I do think if you are in tip top form it definitely helps.

I think it's quite common to feel supply gets lower as the day goes on. I know mine did but I just carried on. She now goes down after 10 mins where it used to be a cluster session from 5pm to 11/midnight :dohh:

Ill try the pump for a few days failing that ill try the fenugreek, thanks girls :D

I took Fenugreek just for one day and it did help increase my supply alot. I still have nearly a full bottle to use in case it starts to decrease again so I'd recommend it. Only thing I'd say though is maybe on the day you take it, make sure LO feeds really well and if you have any doubts that he hasn't, maybe do one bf session during the night to make sure you don't get engorged. My LO was playing up the day I first took it and I ended up with a blocked milk duct because of oversupply! :dohh: Tried again a week later and it was great :)

I felt the same way and so I decided to give Lucy a bottle on a night. Since I made the decision 2am feeds have gone and she usually goes from 7.30pm until 5.30 am or longer. Having 2 other kids to look after I've gotta say it's been a godsend! I need my sleep!!
