infection of scar

So I had my section 11 days ago and have been discharged from midwife as everything appeared to be healing well, my scar was dry and clean.
I have had a little black scab on one side for a few days and yesterday my scar was a little more sore than usual. Last night I stood up and their was a gush, my trousers were soaked, my underwear was soaked, I pulled them both down and yellow blood and puss ran out of a little hole where the scab was.

I went to the hospital and they swabbed and gave me antibiotics and now I am worried about not healing properly.

Did anyone else suffer from this and recover quickly on antiobiotics.

Doc said the skin was not breaking down and didn't smell so that was a sign that it wasn't an advanced infection.

I had a traumatic labour/ birth and was glad to see the back of the hospital and start moving on. Now I feel like I have links to the hospital again and I am desparate to get this sorted out quickly.

Hiya,

I haven't had it to the degree you have had it, but have a hole in the incision which is all healing apart from this hole on one side.

I had my c sec nearly 5 weeks ago and since then have had antibiotics and now some antibiotic cream. The doctors are reluctant to give me anything much actually helps and seems you have to go through a process of starting at the weak stuff whilst the infection gets worse and then slowly move through different solutions. None of which are working!!

Really sorry you've been back in hospital with it, you're in the best place and I'm sure the anti b's they have given you will be strong enough to clear it. Sorry couldn't be much help! Xx

Luckily they didn't keep me in, they just sent me home with the antibiotics but just being there gave me reminders of my labour which are just too raw right now. I was emotionally feeling so much better as I was physically on the mend and enjoying being a mum and I feel like I've gone backwards and I feel worried and upset again :/

yeah, been taking the antibiotics, it is feeling sore today, just praying it will heal with these antibiotics!

Hi how are you doing noW? The exact same is happening to me. The doc said i had an infection but that it was superficial. Was given antibiotics but emotionally I am a wreck and feel really set back mine is a small hole at the edge of the scar with very little bleeding but still...

Hey hun.. i had antibiotics for 7days and it seemed to look worse before it got better! But by the end of the week it was less sticky. It still isn't completely healed but thats not helped with the scar being hidden under my tummy! It is getting there though! I can sympatise with feeling set back. When u start to feel back on your feet and you get an infection you fe dirty! After 9months pregnancy and section recovery you just want to be normal!! Hope you get well soon xx

Thanks hun so true! We have been through enough lol! Lack of sleep doesn't help either does it? It is so hard to let air get to it with my tummy in the way and my tummy isn't that big! Glad you're on the mend :-D xxx

My scar did the same thing for months. I would get a sore spot, a day or two later there would be a black bump, a few more days later it would explode and leave a hole. This went on for months, probably 5 or 6, the doctor just gave me an ointment and so far so good. Mine always happened at different spots along the scar.

I've got period pain and a tender scar site now! what's going on!? So one week after the antibiotics and the bleeding from the scar has stopped it's just a tiny tiny bit of 'water' on a tissue - pin sized. I don't like this renewed pain though...

My c-section dehisced after my 2nd child which means opened up. Luckily, I am a nurse so I allowed them to look at it then took care of it myself. Those
types of wounds have to heal from the inside out. I cleaned it inside and out with peroxide daily. It hurt like a SOB but it did heal.

What ointment did you get? Mine still does exactly this 17.5 months on and I am so fed up. The Dr says I just have to put up with it.
