I currently inject LMW Heparin into my stomach each day. On the whole it's been fine, however of late it is becoming increasingly uncomfortable and at times painful. I'm sometimes struggle to find a suitable injection spot. I am beginning to show and have a bit of flab, but even the actual injecting part is stinging (not just incersion)

Anyone else experience this with injecting?

I don't have experience with heparin injections specifically, but I did have to give myself daily shots in the stomach (sometimes 2-3) for IVF. I too found that the more I injected the more uncomfortable it became, and sometimes the medicine would hurt like crazy!

I think it's a normal side effect of injecting yourself every day. :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

I wasn't on heparin in my last pregnancy I was on clexane. After a while I was getting it injected into my thigh or arm. It is a little bit sorer but there wasn't much left of my stomach to grab. Could you check if you can inject elsewhere?

I can inject into my thigh, but have been told it's "better" in the stomach. I'll keep going for as long as possible and then try elsewhere. That said, maybe it would be better to vary it now? At leart the discomfort is a normal occurrence.

Thanks for your replies xx

I'm on heparin injections too and it only gets harder as your belly grows. I'm 23 weeks and its a lot harder for me now. I just try to alternate sides and inject into my love handles too. Good luck!

I inject insulin 5 times a day and notice sometimes it can sting, I find if I pinch low closer to my hip it does not hurt at all stay well clear of the skin close to your belly button and stay below it as well :flower:

I inject insulin and clexane/LMW heparin and there is a huge difference between the two. I could inject insulin all day long, but the clexane injections are a killer.

I think clexane ar emuch easier if you have some fat to inject into, but they do sting and the mor eyou use an injection site, the worse it will get sadly. I would consider alternating between your stomach and thighs to give your stomach a break if it's really getting unbearable, it doesn't make that much difference.

I inject twice daily and its got harder now I'm 28 weeks, feels sore and sometimes bleed if catch it on a sore point

I have both insulin and Lovenox and 99% of the time they are fine. Occasionally it will sting for a bit. It's now been 6 months and hasn't really changed much.
