After a week of early labour I went to the hospital at 8am April 30th to have my water broken. After an hour the contractions weren't progressing as fast as they would like so they pushed oxitocin which I was a little annoyed with because I really didn't want to have an iv or any intervention but it did speed things up. By the time I got to 6cm the pain was strong enough that I decided to try the laughing gas and it was my best friend for the rest of the labour. After 10 hours of active labour it was time to push. My son was facing the wrong way, his head was down but his spine was against mine resulting in severe back labour and making pushing by far the worst part of the entire labour. After 2 hours of pushing I was getting exhausted and hadn't had anything for the pain during the pushing stage so my doctor suggested a spinal and using the vacuum suction which I reluctantly agreed to. The hardest part was sitting still through several contractions while he tried to get the needle in. I was very glad he talked me into it once it was in. About 5 pushes after the spinal with the vacuum and our son was born. He was so beautiful. He's now 2 weeks and 4 days old

Congratulations. My son was back to back as well and the pushing was excruciating! I lived on gas and air as well, damn them for taking it away during the pushing. :haha:
