Earlier today I went for my GD test, but also had routine blood work done that included testing my iron and red blood cell levels. I'm currently taking 300 mg or Iron once a day (palafer). My iron level measured 22 which is considered "probable" anemic and my red blood cell report was slightly lower than what is ideal:
RBC 3.63, normal is 3.80-4.80
Hemoglobin 114, normal is 120-150
Hematocrit 0.33, normal is 0.35-0.43

I'm also taking low dose asprin due to previous pregnancy complications, so I'm wondering if any of you know if taking low dose asprin can affect your iron and red blood cell levels?

My next doctor appointment is 4.5 weeks from now and I know if it's serious they will call, but just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this.

Hmm I don't know but I'm curious now too. I had pre-eclampsia with my dd so I'm taking low dose aspirin as well. I just got a call today from my Dr that I failed my 1 hr glucose, but along with that it's showing I'm borderline anemic and need to start taking an iron supplement in addition to my prenatals. My prenatal already has 27mg of iron in it which it says 150% of daily value. So wouldn't any additional get flushed out anyway? Or is it just that my body needs more than other people right now? I have no idea if the aspirin has anything to do with it, I didn't think to ask and they didn't mention it, but I'll bring it up at my next appointment!

I took aspirin through the entire of my last pregnancy & had high iron levels throughout so it didn't effect me.

Thanks, guess I'll just have to wait and see what the doctor says.

I'm on low does aspirin and was throughout my previous pregnancy and have had really good iron levels both times.

I've been a baby aspirin for all my pregnancies. Some I was low, others I was not. I don't think the baby aspirin has an effect on the iron.

I went for a consult today and asked the doctor about this. She said low dose aspirin will not affect iron levels, but that my iron levels aren't that bad and not to stress about it. My family doctor still wants to see me about it though
