I had been trying to conceive for 9 months using donor sperm, and at home insemination's without success. Went for fertility tests and it turns out i had a 15cm x 13.5cm dermoid cyst. It had to be removed as was my left ovary and tube.

The question i seek to answer is... could it be donor sperm, me or the fact that I had the cyst that has prevented pregnancy from happening? A few women have told me that they had tried to conceive, but after 1-2 years went to seek advice from doc and turned out they had dermoid or other cysts. And after dermoid removal fell pregnant soon after.

The thing is my doc says that a dermoid does not prevent pregnancy.... but as mines was so large I was hoping that it had maybe misplaced my uterus making it harder or impossible for me to conceive.

Can anyone help?

I had a 17cm by 16cm dermoid and had a smaller one on my other ovary, I had 1 and a half of my ovaries removed. Because the dermoid was wrapped around my ovary it prevented me from ovulating from that side and as it turned out, my remaining ovarian reserve was low.

Ask to have your hormone levels checked and your ovarian reserve (AMH) checked.... It was a big help for me
