Or is your body supposed to fail you when you're pregnant and over 35?!
I'm 37 so far I've had bleeding at 9 weeks, morning sickness that lasted to 20 weeks to be replaced by a complete appetite extreme breathlessness and a ridiculously high heart rate and a baby who thiinks he ought to play hide and seek in my ribs!!...
And now I appear to have developed gestational diabetes! I give up just what more can my body throw at me?? My husband has started to walk around with a resigned look he doesn't know what's coming next.

OK rant over..sorry ladies! I'm sure I'll think it was all worth it when he arrives.

Wow, sounds like you are going through it at the moment hun. I am 34 at the moment and this pregnancy is so much different to my last two, I was in my early twenties then. MS from hell, extreme fatigue and the breathlessness is shocking! I can barely walk from one room to another without needing to take a breather. I'm only 10 weeks at the moment so I can only imagine what's coming!

:hugs: sorry you are having such a hard time Suzi.

I'm 41, and luckily have had no bad pregnancy problems. Although my body isn't in the best of shape. lol.

Hope it gets better for you. And yes, it will be worth it!

Suzi, sorry to hear you are feeling so rough. But yes, I am absolutely sure your little one will be completely worth it

I too am 37, expecting my first. I have, so far, been extremely lucky. I have had no morning sickness, only had a bit of tiredness in the first 12-13 weeks. Had some very slight spotting around 6 weeks but very, very slight. Since around 13 weeks I've felt pretty good except for a bit of heartburn and indigestion every now and again. I have started to get a slight bit of breathlessness the past week or so on walking a bit but only slight so far.

I'm not sure age is much to do with it, I think it's genetics and just luck. My mum never had any problems in pregnancy, only same minor things I've had so far, so I just think it's my genes x

Sorry, Suzimc! It's been nearly 13 years since my last pregnancy, and this one is certainly different. I'm 41, and am handling the extra tiredness, shortness of breath, nasty veins, bloody nose and gums pretty well...lol. I think I started convincing myself from the beginning of my BFP that this pregnancy would be harder on me physically. I've allowed myself to nap everyday and pretty much stopped making large meals for my family, carrying laundry, scrubbing toilets, etc. Granted, my kids are older (16, 15, and 12)....so I've had the luxury of depending on them for help. I think because I have such low expectations of myself that I actually "feel" pretty good! I don't know if anything I said is helpful in anyway, but please know you aren't alone!

Tracy

Thankyou ladies!
Its always good to know you're not alone! You are all right and it will be worth it in the end but there's one thing I know for sure and thats the fact I am NEVER bloody well doing this again!!

I'm 44 (43 when we conceived) and it's my 'first', so have nothing to compare it with - LOL! However, up until a few weeks ago (around 32wks), I had pretty normal pregnancy stuff (e.g. evening sickness wks 8-14, tension headaches wks12-16, leg cramps from around wk 16-22, and carpal tunnel in my hands since about 20-22 wks), but no GD or PE, etc.

I had a high BP scare last week and am being monitored (but no protein in urine) weekly, swollen ankles and some pelvic problems which makes it hard to walk much -- but I am 5 feet tall and baby is already 6lbs! (estimated to be about 9-10lbs at birth), so I am really top-heavy with baby! I am also having monthly blood tests to check fasting sugar due to my age, but my GTT was ok (one slight rise after sugar drink, but I have pCOS so nobody was too worried)....and I/they may move the scheduled c-section from wk 39+4 to wk 38+4.

I was in pretty good health beforehand (was just about to do first cycle of IVF, when I got pregnant naturally), so fortunately, up until really wk32, been ok -- am glad, tho, I went on maternity leave at 29/30wks (am a teacher, so went at Christmas break), but only now, do I feel old!

best wishes

ps. wouldn't mind another one, but would need a lot of wine first to forget these last few weeks (post-baby!)

Yikes, sorry you're having such a hard time! :( I will be 41 in March and I'm 25 weeks along with our first surviving baby, and I have to say it's been a super-easy pregnancy (aside from a blood pressure scare, but that's probably hereditary rather than age-related). We plan to do it again as soon as we're able!!

Sorry, ladies! I hope you feel better soon. I'm 35 and just had my third baby. It was a great pregnancy, possibly my best. My others were when I was 28 and 29. At the end, I did get the bad heartburn, aches, etc., but being heavily pregnant is always hard. My delivery was really quick, and I had her naturally without any pain meds, although that wasn't my original plan. Just wanted to share my positive 35+ story.

Thankyou for the positive story...letting people see there's more to having babies than my complaints is a good thing!!
Sabrinakat...your idea is wonderful will have baby be thankful he is here than drink lots of wine to forget! When he's got a supply of expressed milk and his daddy to mind him...just incase any of you were worried I was completely going off my head!
So now I have two things to look forward to, a lovely baby and a lovely bottle of red wine, right you've done it now girls...am officially much happier!

Hi girls

I am 39 (will be 40 in early March) and up until 30 weeks pregnancy, everything was going beautifully! Then I hit 30 weeks and all hell broke loose LOL

I have fibroids and was hospitalized twice for fibroid degeneration (the pain was excruciating!) and put on Demerol. That seemed to have gone away but then 2 weeks ago I was hospitalized with high blood pressure.

I can't walk very far, I am out of breath extremely easily and my legs ache all the time - as if my body is too heavy for my legs LOL. I have gained 50lbs!

Having said all this, I'd do it all over again 100 times over for my little girl - I can't wait to meet her!! :flower:

I hear ya Suzi!!ha ha Going through the same but know it will be worth it :hugs: xx

after 35 is n't to good look at as a pregnant woman,

sorry...do not understand this post.

*sigh...yes, feeling the age a bit too! Love the kicks and punches but miss the energy!
