Is it just plain mean?

I love LOVE the name Sailor Grace. My DH is even on board! I don't think of a cussing fisherman or a cartoon from the 90's when I hear it but is that what comes to your mind? Would it be better spelled Saylor?

I think its cute, didn't get those images! Much prefer Sailor:flower:

I didn't get any images in my mind but it is slightly unusual (no offence meant). I think the second spelling seems more American if that matters either way?

I'm not normally into names like that but I actually think it could be pretty. I would spell it the original way though.

I don't mind it either! I didn't know of any of the references you referred to though, so maybe other people won't either!

I think it would be prettier as a first name rather than a first and middle name if that makes sense? I think it sounds nice and girly.

I do prefer the first spelling, I don't like Saylor - it doesn't look as feminine

Sailor Moon is my first thought, but it would depend on your last name (is it an object, adjective, etc) how strong the association is. I prefer Saylor.
ETA, just realized I didn't answer the big question. I don't think it's mean. But I also love Sailor Moon, so everyone should really just be grateful I'll never get a little girl.

Immediately thought of Sailor Moon. I think it's because Grace is only one syllable/a word. I think my feelings about the name would depend a lot on your last name, like MommyJogger said. If it's something that's very clearly a last name then it could work.

I think it's very pretty and not mean at all! x

Thanks so much for the positive feedback everyone! We do tend to like "unusual" names (DD is Saoirse and we would like to stick with an "s" name if it's girl) Our last name is DeLaCour.

the name you've chosen sounds beautiful with your surname! i say go for it x

I actually really LOVE this name. I am kinda sad I never thought about it haha. I personally would have it all as a first name and that way if she for whatever reason got made fun of she could always be Grace

American celebrity Christie Brinkley has a daughter named Sailor Lee, but I don't think that's a well known reference. I think it's a pretty name. And it actually sounds great with your surname, which is very cool by the way!

My mom kept pushing the name Sailor when I was pregnant with my son - and I kept telling her it absolutely does not work for a boy! I like it for a girl though (I don't think it's mean at all, and I don't associate it with the references you mentioned).

I just heard this name in the news the past few days. A little girl named Sailor just survived a plane crash, in the US.

Oh my gosh I ADORE the name Saoirse. DH and I used to have it on the top of our list.

As for Sailor Grace, I'm reminded of Christie Brinkley's daughter. I don't care for the spelling "Saylor"

I heard about that plane crash :( Didn't realize the little girls name was Sailor though. Poor girl.

Believe it or not, I remember when Christie Brinkley named her daughter Sailor, it's actually where I first heard the name...I've always loved it!

Thanks, we love Saoirse too!

I LOVE the name Sailor. DH doesn't like it so much so it isn't on our list, otherwise it would definitely be up the top! I think it is so pretty x

I like it. There was a little girl on the news here recently (tragic accident that she survived) and her name was Saylor.
