Is it okay for a baby to sleep in a fleece onesie? It will be February and cold.

I just want to make sure that fleece is safe to sleep in at night, and that with a thin swaddle blanket the baby wont get to hot or anything. I bought fleece because there was a great sale on them around a dollar for a long sleeved, and legged onesie with the feet fleece as well. I cant return them which is fine but I just want to make sure the baby will not over heat. First time mom so excuse me if this was a silly question. Thank you!

You can always check the baby's temperature by placing two fingers on the back if their neck if you're concerned. Otherwise lots of people use fleece in the winter. Just check with the swaddled to make sure baby's not too hot. Don't worry, it'll be obvious.

In the winter I would put my son in a long sleeved cotton onsie with a fleece sleeper on top, then wrapped in a blanket. He never got over heated - our home was about 20 degrees C. You will be able to judge. Also their feet and hands usually feel cold as a newborn even when it's warm, so just go by the feel of their neck and cheeks for temperature.

^^ Same, always go by the neck as that's the only real way to get an indicator of temp without taking it. You should be fine though. I still need to stock up on them, due Feb too!

Mine does. just coming out of winter here now.

I personally never put DS to sleep in a fleece sleep suit, he had a couple of cute ones that I put on during the day but at night I always used cotton sleep suits, more breathable and never found it was cold enough for needing a fleece, in a modern house with heating on all day it just didn't get that cold at night to justify it.

It's something I didn't do, fleece isn't a natural breathable fibre and it made me feel uncomfertable. In the winter my LO slept in a cotton vest, sleepsuit and sleeping bag if it was cold. Each to their own though I'm sure it's fine
