Hi! I'm so sorry that I keep posting. I have so many questions and worries. (I suffer from Obsessive-Compulsive disorder.)

I've been using an ovulation test (a dollar store one, but it's approved by some sort of Canadian agency lol), for when my ovulation was supposedly to kick in. I use an app to chart it.

I began testing on the first day, and of course, nothing. There's a feint line beside the control (which is always bright), but for the test to say that it's positive, the line has to be equal or brighter to it.

I tested through the 5 predicted days of my ovulation. The other bar has never been as bright at the control.

I'm now on day 16 of my cycle, (passed my supposed ovulation) and ... the bar is still the same colour. I've started comparing, yesterday's bar is still as light (or possibly a tad bit brighter, actually) than the one for today!

My biggest fear is that I am not ovulating. And why is that bar NEVER even getting a bit brighter?! It's like...it's always the same! Wouldn't it get brighter at least if I was getting close to ovulation? I do the test at almost the same time everyday (4:30-7), and it's always the same thing.

Is it possible that I'm ovulating late?

Thanks guys...

Yes it is possible that you are ovulating late. This is the perfect example of how temping and charting would be extremely helpful. OPKs can help detect impending ovulation but do not work for everyone. Buy a BBT, download fertility friend and start temping and charting.

Yep I regularly ovulate around CD18 to 20. I remember the stress when I first started using OPKs thinking I wasn't ovulating as the days ticked by with no positive.
How long are your cycles normally?

For me, when I come close to my usual ovulation time I take 2 tests a day as I've had positive once after lunch and negative by dinner time. Must have been a short surge. I don't want it to become more stressful and obsessive for you though!

Also some people have gradual darkening of the colour band as they approach and with others it just staya faint until it's blazing positive.

Please don't worry I'm sure everything is fine. As PP said, perhaps try charting your temp as sometimes even when you get a positive OPK it's difficult to pin point the exact day of ovulation.

I wanted to start temping but my boyfriend thought we should wait a bit before going that route. (The ovulation tests are much cheaper...but I bet I could get a decent Walmart one!) But now seeing all negatives I think I shall start doing that for next month! I feel the ovulation tests aren't exactly precise and can be influenced too easily by how much I drink/time.

Well, I thought my cycle was 28 days...but my AF threw a curve ball at me and my AF lasted 2-3 extra days this month so now I'm not certain! It was a random increase in AF time!

Thank you so much for saything that you had ovulated late
It's now day 17 and nothing yet again. I think that for next month I'll test twice daily since you said that your ovulation time was so short!!!
