Just curious if its possible to conceive Identical Twins after undergoing fertility treatment/medication??? Or do Fraternal Twins usually result from lets say IUI or IVF? Who here has had Identical twins through treatment or knows someone that has? Thanks.

There was one at my clinic who bad identical twins xx

it is possible if the embryos split into two and is more likely to happen after ivf than in a natural cycle x

I was told by my dr that it is a 5% chance of identical twins with ivf etc

I was told up to a 20% chance of identical twins as they chose the best quality eggs etc ..

My friend has, she had 1 early blast put back & has identical twins cooking! It's very rare, especially at blast stage x

It's possible but most ART twins are fraternal. The fertility meds mature more eggs, which lead to the possibility of more than one being released and fertilized. I don't know the statistics but I would think you wouldn't have more, or much more, of a chance of identical twins than had you not done fertility treatments. I've always understood identicals to be a medical phenomenon; there's no reason it happens.

I was told that it can happen if the embryo spilts into 2, but it's the same risk as in the general population, about 2% ish. Obviously more risk if there are identical twins in the family.
