I've hurt my lower back (twinged an old injury) which is awful with a baby. Everything I do seems to hurt it!

Went to the chemist and asked about voltarol and deep heat and was told both are unsafe for breastfeeding. We have some ibugel at home and I thought that ibuprofen is safe for breastfeeding so the gel should be too (have lost the box and insert pamphlet) but don't want to use if unsure. Looked online and some sites say it's fine as oral ibuprofen does not get into breastmilk in sufficient quantities to be a risk so topical ibuprofen is even less worry while others say do not use. Anyone any the wiser than me?

This link - https://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/pdfs/Creams_and_Ointments_and_Breastfeeding_March_2009.pdf - says it's fine. I would trust the info provided by them. https://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/drugs-in-breastmilk-information-and-factsheets.html

Thank you - you're a star! I'll put some on immediately :)

Hope it helps! If you want advice about other things you can take/apply, I think there is a helpline on that website and the pharmacist will get back to you if needed.

Thanks again - just put some on and feel so much better already. Did know about that website but totally didn't think to check it. Baby brain! :)
