Hi there,

I'm getting a bit desperate for something that can help, I do have an appointment with my GP to help but last time he just prescribed Caneston, and I'd already had what I thought was thrush twice before and self medicated for it.

Basically I went back on microgynon in December and then in Feb I met my BF. What's happening is that sometimes directly after we've had sex I become really sore, and it burns! It's then painful for 2-3 days and Caneston does seem to help. But it may just be that the symptoms are naturally easing anyway rather than the Caneston helping.
I'm wondering if it actually is thrush seen as it only seems to occur directly after sex, and also has anyone every suffered from it when on microgynon? I've never suffered from it before except when pregnant (which I'm definitely not), so the only 2 causes I can think of are going back on microgynon or my BF! He has had no symptoms of it but I don't think he's had any sort of treatment in case he has had it.

Sorry that was a little rambling!! Any advice or similar experiences appreciated!

Is it everytime you have sex? Sometimes I get red and swollen kind of like a friction burn but only once in a while. I think its related to hormone levels so maybe the pill is causing it in you.Thrush is usually itchy so if its just sore I would think its probably not thrush.
Edited to add- google allergic vaginitis, could it be that?

No it's not every time, it's every now and again and it's not itchy as such, it just starts burning! I'll have a Google and see. Weirdly I was wondering if I'm allergic to his sperm ha! Would be just about right for me that!

Do you use lubricant? ..sometimes you can be allergic to that or even condoms?. If you don't use lubricant then it may be a friction thing so try some!.

Yeast, a type of fungus, occurs naturally in the body and is normally found in controlled numbers in warm, moist places like the genitals and inside the mouth. Yeast usually won’t cause problems — unless it begins growing out of control.

i am prone to thrush and UTI's. i was told about 6 years ago that my body doesnt get rid of bacteria like it should do so i just keep getting thrush, i dontk now if you have solved this problem but next time you have any symptoms go for a swab to see what it is thats going on, it could be something, could be nothing, i used to get the same feeling you are describing after sex, i used to put sudocrem on though to just cool it down, possibly not the best thing but it worked, tell you what else i used to use, nappy rash cream, i only used it bcos i started with thrush late friday night and couldnt get anything till monday so i used it and it worked, i also sometimes get the internal infection but not the itch so dont always go by the itch, all i can say is maybe buy a tablet or pessary for the infection and keep it for next time you may be starting but if you can get to the gp then go, if you have thrush or signs of it more than once in a 6 month period go back to your GP it could be an underlying problem
