Is it too early?? Birth plan

Hi girls.

I'm a bit of an organisation freak and even though I'm only 18 weeks, all I can think about is the birth.

Is it too early for me to perhaps sit down and write a few birthing plan ideas down? Then I can use it as a template for when it comes to having to make the real thing?

I don't think there's a right or wrong time- I had to decide if I wanted to try for a vaginal delivery for my 2nd by 20 weeks. I think it's good to have a general birth plan in mind early on so you can work towards helping it happen. For example if you want an active, drug free labour it's good to prepare by leaning techniques to cope with labour and getting you birth partner and those who will be with you on board. It will also help you to talk to your MW (or whoever looks after your care) about your plans and what you might need to do to prepare.

Yeah I like to be prepared and I kind of know already how I want it to roughly go.

It's absolutely fine!!! It's an exciting time so why not think about what you want and do a bit of research. Just please bare in mind that although birth plans are lovely they often don't go to plan so be flexible. I talk from experience. I wanted a drug free, natural birth with my first. Ended up induced, high risk and eventual c section!

yes, it's good to be prepared early! Gives you time to think of all possibilities! It's good to include all possibilities too, even if you hope things don't go that way its good not to idealise your perfect birth!

Just put some notes down and do your research now, but be prepared for things to change, lots can change in the next 22 plus weeks so don't set your heart in stone.

I am only 22 weeks but I have started my birth plan already. Even hired my doula. I am just keeping in mind that I need to be flexible because things can change. It's not going to go exactly the way I want. If I prepare myself for that now I won't be so upset when it doesnt go exactly as planned
