OH has been set on Lillie if we have girl ever since I fell pregnant, my family all adore it too as it is a family name, with my great-grandmother and my grandmother both being called Lillian, Lily for short.

But Im know just hearing it so so much in the UK especially in Essex and im finding its quite popular with, and sorry for any offense caused because I really dont mean any, "council estate mums" and Chavs .. I just dont want LO to be the fourth of fifth Lilly in her class, but im not sure on how to convince OH and family otherwise.

My first choices were for a girl,

Aubrey
Alanna
Sienna
Ariana
Eloise

I sure hope it isn't - my Lily was born on 02/06/11 :) hehe.
I only know one other person with a Lilly, and she's about 8 years old. Besides, if you like the name, then you like the name - don't let other people make your mind up.
I do really love Eloise as well tho :)

Honestly honey, if you like it then go for it.
I do however know at least 6 people who've called their baby Lily/Lillie this year!
Then there's a few people who've called their daughter Lilly/Lillie from the last few year too.
I love Eloise, that was our list too

I just really dont want her to be the fifth or sixth Lily in her class! Really having second thoughts on it, who knows LO may even be a boy and then we have no names what so ever :haha: Just dont know how to convince OH, I do feel like putting my foot down and saying, its me with the constant 24hour a day sickness, me getting stretch marks, me who's gotta give birth ill name the baby apple blossom fairy pops if i damn well want too  but then I feel thats a little diva-ish behaviour :winkwink:

I know a few Lilys, but no Lillians, so it may not be as common as you think. You could always use it as a middle name if you are worried about it. Very pretty, and I think it would sound nice with a lot of first names.

If you really like it couldn't you use Lillian or Lilliana and then shorten it to Lily?
Took me ages to find some names that weren't common, OH hated them all :(
Ended up googling things that meant something to us and seeing if any names we're assoisated with it if that makes any sense :haha:

Maybe you could use Lilia and then shorten it to Lily, Lilia is a lot less common x

I think Lily is a lovely name :) I also like your top names too.

I think maybe you could do what the above poster said, about calling he Lillian or Lilia and then shorten it? Then it's more unusual and they are pretty names :)

Also, maybe you could call her Lily-Aubrey or something similar? Because then it's not just another Lily.

Or, call her Aubrey-Lily, so Lily is still included but not as first name.

Hope all this helps.
I've decided to call my daughter a name I think is popular ATM, but I love it so much I don't care. If your baby suits the name and you really like it, sod it's popularity :flower: x

As much as I love the name Lily - yes I do think its really popular and there will be a good chance that your daughter would end up with numerous other Lily's in her class. I adore Liliana though.

I think it's a beautiful name! If I have a baby girl I would call her Lilia :) xx

Thanks everyone! We do adore the name Lily.. am really taken with Liliana now, I think its beautiful, Liliana Nicole would be the name I think were going to use if LO is a girl x
