I gave Evie some formula today as i want her to start taking bottles to free up my time a little as im BF. After about half hour of her taking some she was sick, then sick twice more (within half hour of the first vomit)

When i feed her from the breast sometimes she throws up a little while feeding or within about 1 min of feeding while im burping her as she has reflux.

Ive noticed a pattern each time i give her formula that she is sick ALOT from that feed and it last a long time and she sicks up about 5 times and its very different from when she is sick from the breast/reflux if that makes sense

Could she be intolerant to something in the formula?

Please help im so worried

She could be, it might be worth trying a differnet type of formula, or it could be that she is gulping down the milk and swallowing air and this is giving her wind which is making her sick? Do you give her bottles of EBM and if so does this have the same effect?

Can they sick long after a feed from a bottle then?

Ive tried about 4 different formulas and each time its been the same.

She is still learning to take a bottle therefor doesnt feed from it too well but i burp her and she brings up wind after each bottle feed thats why im wondering if its more than wind?
xx

And i cant give her expressed breast milk as i cant express a good amount from the breast but she does feed well from the breast

My son is also suffering frm reflux, & used to bring up loads of milk after every feed. He had EBM frm my aunt & didnt have the same reaction. We had to use stay down/anti reflux formula, & since then the throwing up got much less. He was 6 wks when we did the switch.

Abigail does do this when she has wind. Sometimes it can happen up to an hour after a feed. It doesn't happen too often but it happens with breast as well as bottle, and I always put it down to wind, although she is usually only sick once but she can bring up quite a lot. She usually brings it up with a burp, have you noticed whether Evie seems to burp when she is sick? If it was a lactose intollerance you would think that she would be sensitive to lactose in your diet if she is BF?

Thing is her reflux has been ok until i give her formula then she is very sick which has made me think something in the formula isnt agreeing with her?

Mine used to get sick even after 2 hrs frm taking a bottle. We couldnt move him alot, & we kept holding upright.

She doesnt burp with the vomit she just thorw it up silently

Thats a good point about my diet and lactose.

Thru my pregnancy i drank LOTS of cows milk but now i hardly have any and i would say my lactose intake is average.

Could it be something else in the formula? Or maybe her reflux is just worse with bottles?

Have a talk with her Dr.

Formula could be tricky sometimes. We changed formula more than 4 times & my LO is still on anti reflux formula. If we give him a normal one he'd throw it up immediately. They might prescribe anti reflux formula for her or baby gaviscon to thicken the formula. It's trial & error.

WE are giving her infant gaviscon and have been for about 4 - 5 weeks now.

She is going back to the docs in a few weeks so ill mention it then

Will she take a sippy cup? You could try giving formula in one of those and see if the same thing happens? BF babies drink well from a doidy cup.

Have you thought about trying a different bottle for the formula? If your LO is having trouble doing the switch between breast and bottle, you could give Breastflow bottles a try as they work along the same principle as a breast. I used these while I was combination feeding and they were great, Evie never had nipple confusion.
