So I like names that are not too common, but not odd ball either. DH and I have decided on Alastair for our DS - it's a secret from family and friends so not had any comments, but I did tell my midwife when she asked. She said she had never delivered an Alastair before. Now I know it's not that common, but I didn't think it was an unusual or uncommon name either. What do you ladies reckon? I'm happy with my choice still either way, just wondering what others think :flower:

I really like the name. It may be not common for babies, but I've heard before and quite liked it.

We have one at my school. It isn't common here in the US but that student is from the UK originally. He is a very handsome and charming boy so I like the name!

I worked with an Alastair. It's the name I would have picked for number 2 if we hadn't chosen an A name for DS. I love it.

Really great name :D I think I've only ever heard the name on tv or movies before lol. It has such a strong sounding presence to it. Great pick :D

I think it's a great name. Not too popular in the US, but I've always liked it.

In my mind it's not common, not even for an adult but especially not a baby. My friend named her baby alistair about 15 months ago and I remember thinking 'hmm I didn't imagine he'd be an alistair/ Ali but I like it!'
My 9 month old is Nicholas, there are not many baby Nicholas' any more, but I love it.

I actually love this name, so handsome, strong and classy! I suggested it to hubbs and he doesn't like it, he also nixed Alaric from my list!

Nicholas is his middle name after my dad :)

Thanks ladies for all your nice comments!

I love it too! My sister's husband is Scottish and they tossed that name around for my second nephew.

I love it! Unfortunately our daughter is Calista so we could never use it, lol.

It's my dream name. Unfortunately, DH doesn't care for it. :nope: I say use it!
