she has ridges on her head and she also has soft spots. my head is kinda shaped like that in the back, i googled and of course dr. google has nothing good to say ... ever. :) it was saying something about craniosynotosis.. my ped saw her for her first apt and wants an ultra sound done on her ridges. so of course im sitting here worried to death i cant even do anything else. might i add she was also breech, delivered via c section.

please, whats your opinions ladies? my little girl is 8 days old'!💓💓

i have people saying she has a normal shaped newborn head. but here is her head from up top while shes laying down

Looks fine to me from the picture, both of my girls have very prominent suture lines/ridges in their skulls.

My eldest had a funny shaped head, it was also massive in proportion to the rest of her she was 25 percentile born and her head was just over 100 percentile. Shes fine, infact shes very intelligent, we joke about her big head full of brains.

I think they are always quick to check anything my eldest was checked at birth and again at 6. Its essentially genetic as they measured my massive head at the 6 year check and decided it was genetic.

That just looks like a breech head to me. They are often shaped like that due to being in close contact with bony ribs during pregnancy. I'd say it's perfectly normal. She's gorgeous by the way!

My lo had a pronouced ridge too. Even my mom asked what was wrong.
He is now 7 months and it's gone. Didn't really notice when it went away though.
It was just the plates of bone moving into their proper place

My daughter had a pointy head on one side from her birth (she was posterior and turned in the birth canal). When it was still pointy after a year (despite being told it would be gone 6 weeks after birth....and doctors weren't worried as her head was growing) I took her to an osteopath. After a couple of sessions the pointy head was gone.
There are osteopaths that specialise in babies and also the head (cranial). Osteopathy is very gentle. It could be worth a visit since your baby was in breech in your tummy.
As a pp said doctors just like to check all is OK so check everything out but could be worth an osteopath visit.

Emma had an odd flat spot on her head, I might follow your advice Spudtastic. It was there from day 1 so it's not from sleeping positions.

It's just the bony plates in her head. They're not fused yet, so the spaces can be pretty obvious, especially if the baby doesn't have much hair.

Mine was born head first, but after her plates spread back out, her head went through some pretty extreme shape changes. Every single suture and indent was clearly visible, her fontanelle spread out and became absolutely enormous, the back of her head flattened a bit and her forehead bulged out ... one side of her forehead swooped inwards a bit - she looked like a stegosaurus for a while ...

She was still gorgeous throughout though!

Her fontanelle still isn't closed at 26 months. Apparently they start to worry now, but I'm not. It's tiny now, almost gone. It's just taking longer since it was such an enormous crater to begin with. Never seen one so huge, but she has a big and beautiful head shape now!

My lo was a breach and section. She had a misshapen head also. We went to physio and they had us rotate her sleeping position. When there was a part that stuck out, we were to have her sleep on that side. I would just listen to what the doctors say.

They have all kinds of weirdly shaped heads when they are born! It all depends on the position they were in when the contractions were smooshing their heads, lol.

Just looks like a baby's head. They're supposed to have soft spots. As far as ridges go, I'm not sure what you mean.

Her head looks normal to me.

This is my eldest at 7 months, she had what we called her 'horns' and I think it was just because her head was so big! Your baby's head looks perfect x
