Baby Riya is 5 weeks old and only drinks 3oz / 90ml at each feed. The aptimel guidelines suggest she should be drinking 120ml / 5 times per day. If we do give her 120ml, she ends up being sick.

At 90ml per bottle, she is hungry every 2 hours. So over 24 hrs is drinking enough but should she not be drinking more at each feed and going longer between feeds. The doctor is happy with her weight gain so no issues there

How much were your LO drinking and how often at 5 weeks ?

5 weeks in pretty young still, I think she's doing fine as she is, the guidelines on the milk have always been way out for us.

When she is ready she will start to drink more at each feed and space them out. I think it is best to let her drink how much she wants and when she wants.

:)

Her tummy is still tiny, so I would rather feed on demand and she will demand more at each feed once she is ready for it :) Sounds like your LO is doing brilliantly !

Dont worry, she'll take what she needs.

Every baby is different. Violet would go 5-6hrs at first between feeds but she'd take double what your LO is taking and everyone would be like "woah, she's eats *loads*", but they forgot how long she was going in between feeds lol

As long as she's gaining weight, I still stand by the view that demand feeding at that age is the best way. That's just my opinion tho x

Guidelines are just that guidelines. Go with your baby she'll take what she needs and when she needs it lol.

Our little one tends to eat varied amounts with each feed (guess it depends on how hungry he is). Often times it's about 100.

our HV says not to go by the guidelines as every baby is different jenna is now 8 weeks old and thats her just at the 4oz/120mls!! My friends baby on the other hand is 3 weeks old and eating 5oz every 4 hours so it just depends on the baby!!

I think it also depends on how much babies weigh. I was scared that Cameron was drinking too much, but he wasn't.

Sam has 2-3oz every 2-3hrs & he's 5 weeks old. He was only 5lb 6oz born so at this age is now as heavy as most newborns! I think if your LO is gaining weight then thats what u should go by. Sam gained 12oz last week & 10oz the week before!

I was told not to worry about guidelines and when she keeps finishing bottles then add on another 1 oz :)

Every 2 hours is ok for 5 weeks. You'll probably find she starts lasting 2.5-3 hours reasonably soon. I think at 5 weeks Ruby was taking about 100ml every 2.5 hours.
