Is there any chance my Clexane injections (into tummy) can jab baby?

I have to inject my belly once a day with these, the needle is about a centimetre or so long. Each time, I aim low and to the side of my belly, pinching my skin to do it. But today, as I jabbed in, my baby started jabbing back in similar area! By then, it was already in and so scared I got her. They say a needle can't get to baby but as I near 35 weeks, she seems to be closer and closer to the surface of my skin. Really worried I've hurt her now cos she was really reacting as needle sunk in

I hate doing them but need to to sustain my pregnancy!

I have to inject daily with clexane too and have done with 3 of my pregnancies. So far no baby jabbing has happened! I am pretty sure there is enough skin, fat etc between needle and baby x

My doctor said it won't harm baby but I have started injecting in my love handles, plenty of fat their lol!

Can I ask u ladies, how many injections do u do a day?i do 2 of dalterparin a day (different kind of blood thinning med) what has your doc told u about how u will stop them when in labour?ive been told soon as I feel start of labour to stop

I had Tinzaparin for the start of my pregnancy and had to inject 2 a day one after the other but they made me poorly so went back to clexane and it is 1 a day. With my last pregnancies I had to stop injecting at 36 weeks but it has been changed now and they said to take the right up to delivery day. I am very wary as to how they expect me to do this as I have fast labours. x

This is what worries me when said stop as soon as feel labour come on as what happens if quick!

Thanks, girls! I don't seem to have love handles etc! My tummy is all baby! It's not like I'm skinny, I'm just normal. Just don't seem to have much excess fat for some reason on my bump! So really difficult.

I inject once a day and initially was told to continue until first signs of labour which worries me too, especially as my family on mum's side has history of reasonably quick first labours. The most recent consultant said he doesn't see why I should stay on the injections much longer, which contradicts what my fertility dr and other consultants have said. They can't seem to make up their minds!

I was told some ladies inject in thigh also if dont want to do stomach.Do u mind me asking why your on injections?i an because I had a Dvt 4 years ago and have a clotting disorder

I'm on injections cos I have thrombolina, which causes blood clots in womb and can lead to miscarriage, baby not implanting etc. was discovered during my fertility investigations.

It's nice to see others on here who r on injections,so know what each other are going through,I'm starting to worry now regards to bleeding during labour, think may need to make appointment to discuss worries with my gp as midwife doesn't seem to say much and my hospital consultant doesn't need to see me anymore

Don't worry about jabbing the baby. The needle is designed to inject just under the skin and should bare in mind skinny people. I give these injections to skinny people all the time so don't worry x

As carly said the needle is designed to hit subcutaneous fat and so you won't be jabbing baby! Also as to worries about bleeding in labour, clexane has a short half life and I believe after 24 hours the effect of one dose is finished and clotting is back to normal.

Hope delterparin works the same with regards to bleeding,i have to take 2 a day 12 hours apart

ohh so glad i found this thread some ladies who can relate to me. my consultant reassured me that the need goes nowhere near baby as the needle enters the fatty wall.

I have to inject once a day,but to stop taking when i feel contractions. i was doing it at 2 o'clock each day but the consultant recommended i gradually start too inject at 10 o'clock at night which i did do. She said once i inject its only in my system for 8hours so its better to take later at night incase you do start to feel contractions. then as long as labour has went well after 24hours ill be back on them for 6-8weeks after cant wait to stop them!

I take 2 a day 12 hours apart, 8.15 am then 20.15 pm so I'm hoping I b ok!

I had to inject for a week after birth with clexane and I did it into my thigh or upper arm.. Try doing it in those places :)

Ive just started taking them and I inject in my thigh and arms, alternate everyday! Im taking them as a precaution at the minute as my APS came back borderline positive.

I was worried about this but when I go to hematology they said you will never hit her, the needles are far too small. They also said you will feel her kicking/punching in response but that is all which is completely normal. I have felt her punching and kicking me sometimes but I think that is more to do with because I have to grab my tummy. Sometimes I do it in my legs too, depends which is best on the day :)

Oh thank God someone made this threat! I do Lovenox 1x a day, and wondered for a second if I was going to inject it into the womb on accident as I got farther along:haha::dohh:
