Ok I am going to sound a little bit strange trying to explain this...

Rebecca has a Britax renaissance car seat, when she is strapped in anything now she always pulls her arms out even in her car seat no matter how tightly I adjust the straps.

She gets her arms out and free in the car seat and is waving them around, this is particularly worrying if we had an accident as its only her waist bit that is strapped.

Do any of u know if there is an invenetion to tie or clip her two straps together on the car seatso she can't set her arms free and do any of ur kids do this?

I might not of explained myself clearly

I have no idea but it is so reassurig to know Seren isn't the only Houdini - will watch for answers!!!

i have asked for one of my mates kids, cos she can do the same and she has a britax car seat, they don't sell things like that, you'll will have to take it back the shop you got it from, and they should fix it for you cos it means it is losing for her to be able to do it.

I don't know if such a thing exists, but if it does, I should have one for Ky's carseat and buggy! - The little monkey has figured out how to get his arms out and wriggle out under the straps of his buggy if I so much as leave an extra cm slack on the straps!

Mind you, he could climb out of his cot by 15 months, and has learnt how to drag anything that will give him extra height over to doors to stand on so he can open them....so I should know better.
-He also pushes his buggy over to the sideboard in the kitchen, climbs into the buggy to get on the side, then puts the unit lights on and sits on the side throwing the fruit out of the fruit bowl.
.....Sod the contraption to keep him in his carseat - I need a bloody cage!

Maybe we should all get together and invent a device-there is obviously a gap in the market and we could make mega bucks!

I've found the answer to all my problems!!!

No idea how to stop it - Olivia is just the same. Had the fright of my life the other week when she got her arms free then managed to lean forward and pull the door handle so the door swung open, thank goodness we were just approaching lights so was going really slowly. My car is quite old so no fancy child locking things so now I just have to remember to lock hers from the inside through the passenger seat as bump is too big to stretch across.

Oh Charlie is a monkey for this, glad she isnt the only one. Not sure on any devices. God Lucy, bet you nearly died when Olivia did that LOL!

Yep I was so panicked because her arms were out of the straps so initially I thought she was totally free and would fall out.
I am sorry to say that was the first time I really shouted at her and she shyed away into her seat and would only look at me through the corner of her eye, I felt so bad but I reacted to the situation.

 Rachel You have made me laugh!

Hi all,

My daughter Abbie does the same, she has a britax, she only does it when she has been in a car to long, there is nothing for it thou....

That just goes over the buckles hun, there is something you can get Iv found it before for my friend, her little girl does the same thing, I'll take a look now see if I can find it

theres this on, but think it might be jsut for pushchairs

But this is the one I found last time which looks good

We asked in Mothercare and they said they dont sell anything like that because they dont agree with them because it is altering the car seat from the way it is manufactured and may not be safe.

Also you have to think in case of an accident you need to be able to release your child from car seat in one single action, adding the harness connector would require two, but I think it is safer than if they have their arms out of the straps.
