Is this cluster feeding or something else?

My little man has been feeding constantly last night and today. I knew to expect cluster feeding, but I was told it was for a few hours not all day... He has a good feeding, followed by 3 small feedings, then about a two hour sleep and it starts all over. He always falls asleep at the breast but I wake him up until he de-latches and won't wake up. I've tried stripping him naked but it doesn't change anything. I offer both sides as well.

From when we woke up this morning until now:
11:31 - 11:57 (26 minutes)
12:18 - 12:24 (6 minutes)
12:35 - 12:41 (6 minutes)
12:51 - 12:55 (4 minutes)

3:08 - 3:18 (10 minutes)
3:29 - 3:32 (3 minutes)
3:53 - 3:58 (5 minutes)
4:08 - 4:12 (4 minutes)

6:06 - 6:34 (28 minutes)
7:06 - 7:09 (3 minutes)
7:12 - 7:15 (3 minutes)
7:34 - 7:42 (8 minutes)

I've had multiple nurses, OB, family doctor and lactation consultant say he has a good latch. He's gaining weight well (Sunday - 6 lbs 2 oz; Monday 6 lbs 0 oz; Wednesday 6 lbs 5 oz).

Is this normal? We have an appointment with a lactation consultant on Monday.

sounds normal to me, all babies are different and if he is gaining weight peeing and pooping then you are doing good

It sounds like more of a growth spurt than cluster feeding to me. Either way its completely normal. Just keep following his lead, you're doing great! :flower:

Yep sounds like a normal growth spurt. You're lucky you get two hours in between! When my dd had her one week growth spurt she basically fed for 18 hours straight with the maximum time NOT feeding 20 minutes at a time! It was quite brutal.

If you ignore the fact that you're having to wake him and relatch, he's feeding for about an hour (on and off) and then sleeping for two hours in between. That's actually not that frequent (it's obviously frequent enough, I just mean it doesn't seem excessively frequent). I was on a 2hr feeding schedule due to LO being small at birth and that would mean waking her up to feed 2hrs after she started her previous feed. With all the faffing to latch and re-latch and the feeding going on and on with naps in between, I often didn't put her down all day!
