Is this even possible with a C-Section?

I had records transferred twice and there may have been misinformation. My recent doc before this one wrote that I had a previous classical incision (meaning uterine incision).

She either wrote this because I said "I was told I had no other option besides a c-section in my next pregnancy" or because she actually read the paperwork from the hospital where the operation was performed (she hadn't at my first appointment). I was told by the hospital that I had a U-shaped or "trap door" incision at the time of my surgery- 5 years ago. So I'm confused, and still waiting for the hospital to send the records to my current doctor. I, of course, have never seen them.

My question is: Is it possible that I actually had a vertical incision on my uterus even though I have a bikini (horizontal) abdominal incision? I guess anything is possible. Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

I have no direct advice, but they can mess up your information sometimes. My paperwork said I had a previous c-section, but I didn't! My first was born naturally. :dohh:

I have no firsthand experience, but in my birth class we just learned that it is possible for the abdominal incision to be vertical and the uterine one to be horizontal or vice versa.

I heard that it's quite possible to have the scars in different directions, because they have to cut through every layer individually.

No personal experience for me, either, but it makes sense.

It is possible and I have talked to a couple of ladies where that was the case.

In Canada that's normal. It keeps your incision together better.
