after reading a few threads i have worried myself about not adding powder to warm enough water.
for a 4oz feed...
1oz freshly boiled water and add the 4 scoops of powder and shake.
then add 3 ozs of previously boiled water that has been stored in the fridge?
will it be ok too add four scoops to one ounce to mix or will this effect something if that makes sense?

I'm not sure if that's ok or not, but the way I do it, is just boil the water, leave for 30 mins to cool, add 4oz to the sterilized bottle, add the right amount of powder, shake it, then leave in cool water for 10 mins to cool it, then put in fridge and use within 24 hours, works fine for me! I'm sure what your doing is fine tho, hopefully someone else will let you know who is more clued up than me (y) xx

It's perfectly fine doing that as long as you measure your other 3oz in a separate bottle because if you add 4scoops to 1oz water this will raise the 1oz to almost 2oz so when you top up to 4oz you will only be adding just over 2oz of cool boiled water. If you know what I mean??

The mixing powder with water over 70c only seems to be a UK guideline, Americans aren't even really advised to boil water! Quite a few use tap water and have no problems.
I don't make the feeds with water above 70c all the time (at night or if I'm out etc) I use cool boiled water, mix in the powder and heat it up and my health visitor is perfectly happy with this as she says the risk of bacteria in the powder is extremely low however does have to be mentioned.
It's all personal choice tho and if you would rather mix with water above 70c I'd say it's perfectly fine as long as your definately topping up with 3oz measured in a separate bottle :)

i haven't started doing it this way yet, i currently add boiled water to the bottles in the morning and leave on the side then when Bella wants a bottle i will Mic it to a nice temperature then add the powder which is working really well but obviously the powder isn't being added to hot enough water. I use to store in fridge but then alot went to waste as she doesn't really have a routine with the amount she takes etc but thanks for reply x

thank you, i had planned on measuring the 3 ozs in separate bottles anyway. when Im out i use a thermal flask and do 2oz boiled 2oz room but i often have a microwave near when im out anyway (naughty me) tap water would be so much easier ay! thanks for the replies ladies x

I think the way your doing it already is perfectly fine :) its exactly what I do except I add 2oz cool boiled water to all my bottles in morning, put the lids on and then when LO wants a feed I top up with 2oz of fresh boiled water which makes it a nice temperature then add my 4scoops :) do the same when out too, take a bottle with 2oz cool boiled water in it, a flask with boiled water and a little milk dispenser with my 4scoops.

It's not making with the correct temp tho but I'm happy with that as is my HV, I done the same with my little boy too and found it really easy.
What ever works best for you hun is the way to go :) x

strangely my hv has never asked me ... i just worry that Mic'ing the water is the same as reboiling it (apart from its not reaching boiling point again) but i suppose if Bella is happy with this and its working for me and OH then we should stick with it. i know none of my local hv advise making on demand, they all say to add to room temp ... thanks for the advice x

I do the same. My lo has 8 oz bottles, so 4 oz boiled then add milk and shake then add 4 oz cooled boiled. :)
