Hi I'm new to all of this, but I just wanted to ask (apologies for being rather graphic)but should I consider today my CD1 if blood is on the tissue after using the loo and brownish spotting on my pad or tomorrow when I will probably visibly see bright red blood on my actual pad?

I get the same, i spot brownish blood for a day then i know the nex day it will be proper period, but i count CD1 from when i first start spoting, cause i have always classed that as the frst day of my period. :) sorry if i wasnt much help, im new to all this too. this is our first cycle ttc. xx

Technically CD 1 is the first day of bleeding that is bright red and you need a pad or tampon or whatever you use. According to Fertility Friend.

I only count it ad CD1 when I have real bleeding as opposed to spotting.

I use a mooncup (menstrual cup) so I reason that if I wear it when I expect AF to start and only get spotting I probably wouldn't have noticed it till the next day anyway.

The FS told me to count CD1 when I actually have a flow when a pad/tampon/soft cup is actually needed. Spotting does not count according to my doc.

Hope that helped :)
