is 'Tyler' a common name???

me and dp choose 'Tyler' for a boy before our baby was even concieved lol, hes due nov and thought we had sorted the name but everyone keeps telling us - ''its a bit common...'' and this has out dp off alot - but i love it and keep trying to convince him its not! - i dont know anyone called Tyler lol...

so opinions please!!!....

Actually back in the early 2000s Tyler was a very common name, but now there aren't so many of them.

It's hard to say -- for half my pregnancy i told everyone i was naming the baby Tyler -- it's such a nice, cute name -- but then i went off it all of a sudden! I also worried it was too common & ordinary. I still think it's a great name -- and personally i don't know any Tylers at all! But i do think it was quite popular for babies in the late 1990's/early 2000's

All that really matters is that you both love it, tho!

I'm 21 and grew up with a lot of Tylers but nowadays I do not think it is very common.

It probably depends on the area, I personally know of 4 Tyler's under the age of 5 but don't know any older ones! If you don't know any then I say go for it.

we are calling our baby tyler, its not a popular name where we live and i dont know anyone else called tyler but even if i did it wouldnt bother me coz me and DH would still like the name

I dont think I know of any tylers! But, even if it is popular in your area, it doesn't mean you can't use it, as long as you dont mind him having a popular name!

I'm finding that looads of the names I had on my short lists back when my other 3 were born, that back then everyone said "ooh those are strange names, did you make them up?" Are now the names that like every baby gets called!!

I have a Tyler It is a cute name and now he's abit older (4) We usually call him Ty. Up until recently he was always Tyler as we thought Ty was abit too grown up. I don't know of any other Tylers in our area and he was the only one at playgroup. If you love it then go for it hun, sod what they think xx

kell - funny coz dp didnt attually want/like Tyler in the beginning and he only came round because he loves the name Ty!!

i have a tyler too. hes nearly 6 now.
when i named him tyler i didnt know any tylers then all of a sudden i knew 3 lol

we sumtimes call our tyler TJ, hes tyler john.

i say go for it and great choice lol x
