It still doesn't seem real..

I had my second appt today. My MW is so great, I just love her! The last time I saw her was 4yrs ago, but she remembered me. Got a huge smile when she saw me and asked me how I was doing. (The last pregnancy ended in a MC.)

Anyways, got to hear babies heartbeat!! It's at 147 "right in the middle, so we can't tell if it's a boy or a girl" Says my MW. LOL!!

But even though I've heard babies heartbeat, and I have a scan of baby, and my little bump is there...it still hasn't set in...which is odd for me. My last 3 babies I never felt this way...Maybe it's cause of the mc I had.

I only have 3 wks to go, till I have my next scan too

Congrats, I am glad it went well. I am guessing you are shielding yourself still cause of all the sadness you had to endure last time. But the further along you'll get the more you will feel it to be real. xxx
What did she mean about the heartbeat though? Is there a theory of it being higher/lower according to gender?

Yes Angela, old wives tale....I think if it's high, it's supposed to be a girl. Low a boy....but it could be the other way around. lol

I just read the title of your thread and thought, yeah doesn't seem real to me either. I'm sitting here with my netbook resting on my bump and i swear the baby moved right under it! Obviousl trying to tell me it's definitely for real!!! x

Dorian, sorry about ur mc last time. It's true though, I've had 3 mc's, and after I lost one in 2nd tri, my next pg's were tough. Even this one, Im having a hard time lettingmyself become attatched. Even though, I know I am. Id be devistated if anything happened to my bean. My theory is its a defence mechanism,so wedont get hurt again. But, if you've seen the hb chances are really good! When I lost mine in 2nd tri, I never had a previous scan tocheck for viability. Each pg after I get early ones, from about5 weeks. So Im thinking its normal to feel like its not realyet.

You can see by my sig how far I am along and I am still feeling it's "unreal" somehow!

I have also had 3 mc's and the one at 12 weeks was by far the worst, and after that we thought about giving up even trying. Our son is 7 and we kept this pregnancy from him until it was very far along.

We took a tour of the hospital today and that didn't even help!
